There is nothing tastier than a freshly grilled cheeseburger. Today, we are sharing our homemade Cheeseburger Salad that features a homemade special sauce!

Are you trying to eat less bread this summer? I know I certainly could use a less carby diet, but it is hard! To start, I thought it would be super awesome to make a cheeseburger salad.
This is basically a deconstructed cheeseburger which you eat on a salad. Paired with some homemade Thousand Island dressing, and hamburger bun croutons it is a winning combination!
Make this salad
Ingredients
- 3 grilled hamburger patties
- 5 slices of yellow cheese or chunked cheddar cheese cubes
- 1/2 medium onion sliced thin
- Bell Pepper *optional*
- 1/4″ sliced tomatoes
- Ice burg lettuce
- 3 hamburger buns
- 1/2 stick of unsalted butter
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
Special sauce dressing
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sweet relish
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- salt & pepper to taste
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Cut hamburger buns into little crouton-sized squares.
Melt your butter and mix it with the garlic powder.
Brush on your little bread squares; bake for 4-6 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and set aside.
Slice you tomatoes, lettuce, onion and bell pepper; add to a large salad bowl.
Dice your grilled hamburger patties; add to your salad bowl.
Fold your cheese slices, and dice them into little chunks; add to salad bowl.
Special sauce instructions
In a separate bowl, combine your mayo, ketchup, relish, salt and pepper to make your homemade thousand island dressing. Mix all ingredients together until combined.
Toss vegetables, cheese, and burger meat in a large bowl.
Before serving, add homemade hamburger bun croutons, and drizzle salad with the homemade special sauce dressing.

- 3 plum tomatoes sliced thin
- 1 head ice burg lettuce

- 4 tbsps. butter
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
Special Sauce dressing
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sweet relish
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- salt & pepper to taste
