Now that the kids are heading back to school, it will be time to finally sigh a breath of relief. Don’t get me wrong, I know we all love our kids, but the constant fighting and bickering between my girls has me at wits edge. I am ready to have my home partially to myself again, and be able to breath and focus on my work. During back to school season, everyone focus on kids, but moms deserve a chance to shine too! Here are my favorite top back top school must haves for mom!

calm parentFor Relaxation and Patience: get a new approach on parenting the calm way

I’m not sure about you but I seem to have lost all my patience for kids lately. Maybe it is the fact that they seem way too bored, and we are getting under each other’s skin, but I find myself yelling, and going off the deep end with them lately. The fighting, lack of sharing, and attitudes had me in such a state of miserable annoyance. I was starting to feel like I wanted to literally run away from all the stress until I finally started listening to the Calm Parent AM & PM system.

I have to admit, I have been listening to the creator Debbie’s CDs as I work, and they are very soothing. She made me realize that I am casting my issues, and stresses onto my children, and in turn they are rebelling. She is so correct too, I have been overworked lately and on edge which had me lashing out way too quickly. Being calm wasn’t me at all until realizing that I needed to be for the sake of my household.

Immediately flipping out over petty things is now a thing of the past. I am not perfect, but I do give my children chances to prove themselves now. You too can try the Calm Parent AM & PM system for free for 30 days to see if it is a fit for you. I find this system to be very beneficial because ti can be used in the car, home office, while you cook, or even workout. Relax and enjoy them school days with a peace of mind thanks to Debbie’s Calm Parent AM & PM.

For Ambience in the Home: Create a warm and welcoming environment at home

Having a home that smells fresh and clean is wonderful. I myself enjoy a home that smells of the seasons. Whether it be a tropical scented in the summer, and spicy scented in the fall; I am all for fun scents. The folks at AirWick are at it again with a great line up of National Park scents that are created with the Fall season in mind.

Their new line up of Scented Oil products for the harvest season includes scents inspired by the Isle Royale, Cuyahoga Valley, Shenandoah, Acadia, and the Great Smoky Mountains. These scents are loaded with fall favorites like pumpkin, cinnamon, pear, and apple. They are the perfectly low maintenance way to scent your home for the season at a great price. I love working in my office as the scents of fall waft through the air. You can find these products in stores like Target.

For Organization: Don’t forget to schedule your appointments, or about after school practices.

As moms, we have to wear many hats. Whether it be nurse, maid, chauffeur, and even cook; being a mom is a large roll to fill. Between after school activities, and shopping lists, it can get overwhelming trying to keep everything together. To keep track of little reminders, I have to admit I do forgo technology and turn to Post-it brand products.

Whether you are looking for brightly colored traditional Post-it Notes, Tabs, Flags, or even Display Frames; they have a solution for you! Soon enough I will sneak an hour or maybe even two to just sit on the couch and actually have time to flip through the mountain of unread magazines in my home. The Post-it Tabs are perfect for bookmarking articles, and recipes that I’d like to go back to re-read or make. Found in stores across the nation, Post-it products are a great solution to keep you on task!

For Accountability: Keeping your weight in check and tasks on time

Now that my kids will be back in school, I will be able to exercise even more than I have been. increasing my daily walks, and eating healthier will come easier because I will not have to worry about finding a sitter for my kids. I have slacked a little this summer, but have plans to get fit . Accountability by weighing myself weekly is how I determine my success. With the Taylor Home Mini Bath Scale ($19.99 found at Target) , I can easily stay on task.

This scale is perfect for small spaces, and would even suit a college student very well. It is extremely compact and perfect for traveling because it folds up to the size of a notebook, or thin binder for easy access to and from the gym.

Need to time some muffins, or an activity? The Taylor Digital Slim Timer ($5.99) is perfect for this task! I know one day when my stove was being repaired, I headed to my neighbor’s home to bake some croissants. I was surprised her stove didn’t have an actual built in timer! That is why this product is awesome because it is tiny and very slim, and easy to store. It could also be an invaluable tool for children doing homework, or taking showers.

For Homemaking Short Cuts:

When you have extra time on your hands, the last thing you want to do is be stuck at home ironing clothes! Do any of you even still own an iron, or know what one is? lol! Seriously though, unless you are right on time with pulling your clothing out of a hot dryer, wrinkles are pretty much inevitable. My husband’s work shirts tend to suffer tremendously from wrinkles, and the worst part is he hardly cares!

Rather than have him go to work looking like a wrinkled map of sorts, I have been using Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus. Not only does this stuff freshen up your fabrics, but it really does take even the most wrinkled, crinkled shirt, and gets it looking smooth and ironed. Ok so, if you like pleats and all that, this may not be the product for you, but for me, it is ideal for traveling, and weekly use. I love that it comes in a variety of bottle sizes, and it can be find conveniently at stores like Target.

For the Natural Beauty Look:

Most of us moms do not have enough time in the day to get all pretty and primped everyday of the week. Lately, my beauty routine has consisted of a slick back ponytail, well manicured eyebrows, and pretty glossed lips. Ever since I have discovered the All Natural Waxelene my face has gone from tired to glowing.

If you are unfamiliar with Waxelene, it is an all natural alternative to using petroleum jelly. It comes it various sized jars, flip tubes, and even lip tubes. It is non toxic, and one of those products that has literally over one hundred uses. Whether you use it on cuts, scrapes, your baby’s bottom, or on your lips; Waxelene is a must have in every home.

Personally, Waxelene has been my go to product for keeping my eye brows looking well manicured. Since it does not clog pores, I also find it great on my cheeks, and of course on my plump lips. This product is made from non-GMO soybean oil, honey bee wax, organic rosemary, and vitamin e. It is an invaluable beauty product that will not poison your body. You can purchase the cruelty free Waxelene at stores like CVS, Whole Foods, and Sprouts.

For the Healthy Belly:

As you probably already know, finding time to eat certain meals like breakfast can be so tough for us busy moms. We set out for the day with the best intentions for our kiddos, but end up neglecting ourselves. Rather than skip eating for the first half of the day, I generally eat a KIND Bar with my am coffee and vitamins. If I don’t, I feel as if I would turn into the Hulk or something..just ask my husband!

I chose KIND Bars as a favorite healthy snack turned meal because their bars are so delicious. They never stop when it comes to setting the “bar” for new and exciting flavors. Seriously, I have such a hard time finding a favorite KIND bar because they are all so good. The whole nuts, chunks of chocolate and dried fruits are hard to beat! With flavors like Honey Smoked BBQ, Maple Pumpkin Seeds, and Almond and Coconut; the decision is hard!

KIND Snacks come in a variety of products like bars, granola, healthy grains, clusters, and even omega, and protein filled packed snacks. There are way too many flavors to list here, but they really do have a variety for everyone. I like to think of KIND Bars as a convenient way to eat my favorite snacks (trail mix, nuts, chocolate etc). KIND Bars are available individually, and in boxes online, and at stores like GNC and Walmart.

For the Guilty Pleasure:

Every om has that one snack that they can’t live without whether it be healthy or not. I know for me, it is my fruity Red Vines candy!! Save the chocolate, cake, and fudge, and just give me some some original, or grape Vines and I am all set! We all know that too much sugar is a big no, no but when the kids aren’t around, it is nice to have that one snack that is all our’s!!

Red Vines are produced by the American Licorice Company. They are a sister brand to yummy fruity candies like Sour Punch Straws, and Snaps. I love the watermelon Sour Punch Straws too, and have ever since I was a kid. Red Vines are the perfect iconic licorice candy for those must-have sugar days! If you are a woman, then you know exactly what I mean! You can find Red Vines in convenience stores, and mass drugstores like Walgreens.

What are some of your favorites from the list? How are you relaxing now that your kids are likely back to school, or soon will be?

Aromatherapy, through Glade, is a big way for me to unwind- though those relaxation cds look like something I might want to try at the end of the day. It’s funny, at the end of Summer we should be extra relaxed, not the other way around!

  2. says

The relaxation and patience would be my top pick. Now that I’m older and helping to raise my grandson I have found that I have little to no patient. It’s SO unlike me when my own kids were young. I think age, injuries, pain, and stress have a lot to do with it.

  3. says

I found myself lashing out too much myself. I need to relax more. I got some natural essential oils to help calm my nerves. And I am trying to eat better and take time to relax before the kids get home so I am in a better mind frame before they come home from school.

  4. says

Yep, these all sound about perfect. I need to get that wrinkle releaser for sure. I can’t tell you how many times I have walked out of the house wishing I had taken the time to iron my shirt first.

  5. Pam says

Post-It’s are so important for back to school. I put them on everything so I will remember what I need to do and what I need to pack for back to school.
