Heart Shaped Fruit Bites – A Fun, Healthy Valentine’s Day Snack for Kids
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to mean overly sugary, sweet snack for your family. In fact, you can actually make some super cute, and healthy fruit pieces with some serious knife skills, or the use of a cookie cutter, or Fun Bites tool. My kids are little fruit freaks, and love when I serve up fresh fruit. You bet they were so excited to see that I made them little cantaloupe, and strawberry hearts.
To make these heart shaped fruit bites, I use my FunBites Hearts maker. However, I am pretty confident that you could try this with a knife as well. Just remember to slice your large strawberry in half, and either press out the hearts, or cut them out from there. For cantaloupe, I suggest cutting it in half, and de-seeding it. From there, cut the half into quarters. Using your knife, cut out the fruit so it looks like a half moon. Chop the edges off, and firmly cut out your heart shapes. If you have excess scraps, you can always feed them to your kids, toss them on top of yogurt, or juice them.
