Whenever my kids get the chance to play on the family iPad, I always allow them to choose one fun, engaging, or educational game to play for their time slot. The games and apps they typically play are always ones that I try out first to make sure they are at their level of skill, and are actually fun.
Not all apps are created equal! Believe it or not, sometimes apps geared towards kids are so buggy or literally lame. Thankfully, that was not the case with the latest app we got to review called: Mighty Smighties.
Isn’t that such a cute name? I was actually excited to download this app on my iPad after I seen a few sample screenshots of the app in action. It reminded me of a video game I played as a child so I was excited to dive right in!
How Mighty Smighties works:
Once you download the game, you will be asked to create and name a Smighty. I created a girly little creature and named her Purple Tulip. Once she was created, I got to spin the Wheel, and earned 50 points. Once I received those points I was asked how I wanted to “battle” I chose Random Battle, and was paired with another user.
To battle, I had to choose different cards that each featured various numbers and elements. I was on such a streak because I won my first battle and beat my opponent. I was then able to spin the Wheel for more rewards. There are prizes on their like different valued elements or surprise boxes.
During each round, you have an “Experience Bar”. This shows how much energy your Smighty has. You need energy to battle friends or opponents. You also earn Silver Token and Smighty Gold the more you play. This allows you to buy cool stuff in the Shop.
Besides battling friends or random battles, you can also play in Quest Mode. Here, you go on various missions which my kids and myself love the most! Before you start, you can chose which mode you want to play in. There are Normal, Power, and Epic modes. After each mission your Smighty travels the path and unlocks each area. I was on such a roll and really knew how to pick the perfect elements to beat my opponents.
Along your battles, you also collect certain cards that can be considered Limited, Rare, Very Rare, Super Rare, Combined, Evolved or Super Duper. These cards go in your official album which can be scrolled through. Additionally, you also have the option to buy certain cards in the shop. There are Booster Packs, Single Cards, or you can further customize your Smighty.
Overall, I have to admit, this game was not only addicting, and fun for my kids, but I am hooked! I find myself heading over to this app at night when t.v. starts to get boring. I honestly do recommend this FREE App to anyone who wants a fun game where you can collect rare cards and play with friends.
