Make Your Backyard a Haven this Summer

In a little over a week we will officially be in the bright and sunny summer months. We love the summer because the weather is warm, the sun is usually shining bright, and it means lots of time outdoors. When we bought our first home over 6 years ago, we knew we wanted to slowly transform it into a backyard haven of sorts. Being new home owners we knew it would take time and money so we are still in the process.
Every year we add something new to our yard to make it our own personal oasis and escape from hectic days. A place where we can relax without bother, and enjoy the sunshine, or crackle of a night time fire. Now, thanks to NuTone Haven™ Backyard Lighting & Mosquito Repellent System we can even enjoy it without the bother of mosquito bites.
Mosquitoes are terrible little suckers that can really make a relaxing night a nuisance. Without the right kind of repellent, you will be sorry the next day when you wake up covered in bites! I am particularly allergic so keeping our backyard mosquito-free is super important to us.
So what are some ways you can make your backyard your personal haven? Here are a few small changes we have made that are slowly but surely making our backyard amazing!
Here is how to Make Your Backyard a Haven this Summer:
Grills: Cooking outdoors is a fun way to enjoy your backyard. It will also allow you to host BBQs for entertaining. You can find great grill models after season around August at deeply discounted prices.
Invest in a Fire Pit: (if your city or town permits these)- These can provide ambiance and a warm way to enjoy chilly nights. They are also great for roasting marshmallows by the fire.
Porch swings, loungers, umbrellas, Adirondack chairs, and even outdoor dining tables can make your outdoor lifestyle more comfortable.
Flowers & Foliage: One of the easiest ways to brighten up any yard space is to plant flowers, shrubbery and trees. We have windows boxes for each of our front and back windows, and several flower pots around our porches and patio.
Trees like maples can grow rather quickly with the right care and provide natural shade. If space does not permit, even a few over-sized planters can be used to bring a pop of color to your back yard space.
Pool: A pool is such a blessing when it is hot out! These days, pools have come a long way. With the right model, you could be swimming the same day! Plus, well-maintained pools add a great amount of value to your property. Some day, we’d love to install an in-ground pool.
Privacy: We are one of the only neighbors in our immediate area to have a wooden 6 foot fence. We love our fence because it not only keeps our children and dogs safe while playing, but it also gives us privacy. I am not a fan of minding other people’s business and love that my fence helps keep my yard neatly contained.
Mosquito Repellent: Tiki torches, citronella candles and bug spray are a few common ways you can hopefully protect yourself against mosquito; however they can be annoying and dangerous. I have almost caught my hair of fire from tiki torches, and prefer to use a much safer and effective method to repel mosquitoes. The NuTone Haven™ Backyard Mosquito Repellent System is exactly what I need to give my yard ambiance and mosquito protection.
These lights not only provide a soft glow at night but they are electric powered and safe. They use a special mosquito oil that repels mosquitoes for 60 days. You can learn more about these products by reading our set-up review here.
While it took years to finally get our yard to the backyard haven it is today, there is always room for improvements. What are some ways you have turned your backyard into your own oasis, or haven. Will you be checking out the NuTone Haven™ Backyard Lighting & Mosquito Repellent System?
