3 years ago, we adopted our family’s very first dog. She was chosen online with careful thought and consideration via a pet adoption site. This particular coalition shuttled dogs from impoverished areas of the country to a local adoption agency. She was small, black and white, and just about two years old. Her name was Debby, but at first glance, we knew she would become a Beasley.
Considering we were a family of five with a newer baby (our son), and house, it was quite the adjustment to living with our initially shy, furry friend. She had some potty training obstacles and needed some obedience training, but at the end of the day, she made our family complete. Beasley also became my son’s best buddy, and playmate (now if she will only stop chewing the little plastic army men). haha.
While little Ms. Beasley may have the temperament of a friendly cat, her calming demeanor is just what our crazy family needed. Plus, Beasley is the BEST addition to our home security system because she can hear another dog or stranger a mile away. It is sometimes shocking, but this little fur girl is one smart and alert cookie.
Adopting Beasley not only completed our family, but she has given us so much unconditional love. If only humans could love like a dog does. She is there for us when no one else is, she is compassionate, gentle, and always willing to provide tons of “fish kisses”. Our dog’s purpose and everlasting love are more than we could ever realize. We are her everything, and she is our one and only fur baby….our first dog.
Now, if you are a dog owner/lover, or anyone considering adopting a dog you are going to want to head to theaters on January 27th to see the movie A Dog’s Purpose. Seriously guys, this movie looks like exactly the heartwarming flick we all need to see. While I know it will have it’s sad moments, it will also be filled with joy, laughter, and adventure.
A little about the movie A Dog’s Purpose:
Based on the beloved bestselling novel by W. Bruce Cameron, A Dog’s Purpose, from director Lasse Hallström (The Cider House Rules, Dear John, The 100-Foot Journey), shares the soulful and surprising story of one devoted dog (voiced by Josh Gad) who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love. The family film told from the dog’s perspective also stars Dennis Quaid, Peggy Lipton, Britt Robertson, K.J. Apa, Juilet Rylance, Luke Kirby, John Ortiz and Pooch Hall.
Now, try not to ball and cry like a total baby while watching this trailer (I could not control myself half way through), but this is one movie I cannot wait to see with my family. I just really need to bring a box of tissues with my because it is going to be a heartwarming tear jerker!
The ones we rescue, rescue us. Watch the trailer for A Dog’s Purpose, in theaters January 27.
You can also turn your dog’s face into a movie poster which is really neat!
