Guys: How to Stay Fresh & Dry While Being Active

Being a guy can be tough at times. All the hair, sweat, and sometimes the smells. I am a very clean guy and shower daily; sometimes more. I just cannot stand to be nasty or sweaty. The weather is warming up quickly, and I felt my first bout of humidity the other day.
Lets just say things are going to be getting a whole lot stinkier at the gym, and it won’t be from me! I don’t know if some guys just cannot smell the horrific odors they produce, or maybe they just do not care. Regardless, I know I am not about to become one of them. Thanks to proper self-care, and hygiene I am going to stay fresh & dry while being active.
You see, I have a well-stocked arsenal of body sprays, deodorants, and anti-antiperspirants from CVS. I go through this stuff so fast because I am always on the go. Soon, I will be off on my motorcycle too so life is about to get a whole lot more intense. I do not have time for sweat, or funk.
This is How to Stay Fresh & Dry While Being Active
Trim your body hair– Ok guys, I know some of you love you body hair and take it as a sense of pride. While that is cool, at least keep things neat a tidy. Hair harbors bacteria and sweat plus bacteria = stank!
Shower at least daily– I know this sounds like a given, but I have heard of some friends that try to pull a fast one on the shower. Sorry guys but taking a bath in cologne is not going to cut it.
Wear breathable clothing– Those cool nylon fashion socks are all the rage in the office, but did you ever notice now they can make you feet sweat and reek? Seriously, when you are active, stick to breathable, clean, cotton socks. Same goes for workout clothes, stick with the mesh short, and nylon tanks.
Wash you clothes properly– Anyone who goes to the gym knows that gym clothes harbor bacteria and need to be carefully washed. However, there are one too many people in my particular gym who love to reuse gym clothes. Just because they “dried” them over the hamper does not validate a re-use.
To keep gym clothes fresh, I use a mild solution of non-chlorine bleach to kill off any germs in my clothing. If you use cheap detergents, previous odors will come rising out quickly when activated by heat. Don’t smell the gym up like mildew…just.wash.your.clothes people.
Prevent chaffing– So, this one is kind of funny for me. I have gone my entire life without that dreaded “chub rub” I have heard about. However, once I started squatting, my quads grew and now I get it. To combat this, I use cornstarch and wear proper fitting shorts, or pants. There is nothing worse than sweating between your thighs so take this advice and keep some corn starch in your gym bag!
Wear deodorant– If there is anything you take away from this article, let it be this tip. Deodorant is inexpensive, and comes in so many formulations these days. There is a brand for every lifestyle out there. Just use it..please?
