There are so many things that can bring comfort & joy in life. We all know that loved ones, and having certain securities to fall back on can make us smile, and help us sleep a little better at night.
With the holiday season officially in full swing, I wanted to take some time to list out some things that bring me comfort & joy. I am by no means a materialistic person and you will find that most things that bring me comfort & joy in life are life’s simple pleasures.
My Family- My husband and kids are probably my greatest source of comfort & joy. To have the security of my husband’s embrace, the joy of my kid’s smile, is priceless. I can go to bed knowing that my beautiful children have a safe bed to sleep in, plenty of toys, warm clothes, and love. What they don’t realize is that they also have a college savings which brings me to my next point.
College Savings- When you are blessed to have money in the bank it is such a true comfort in a world where you need money to get by. Each month we set aside money for each of my children to deposit into their College Savings Plans. Teaching my kids financial responsibility is helping me to shape them into responsible adults.
The MEFA U.Fund College Investing Plan accounts for each of my kids brings me great comfort in knowing that I am helping them save for a future of possibilities. These plans offer great benefits to MA residents and you can learn more about what MEFA has to offer on their official site. You can also gift one this holiday season!
A Warm Meal- You all know the foodie in me loves to eat. This time of year I especially love a warm bowl of chowder or a warm crockpot meal. Any kind of meal that requires the oven or crockpot is my type of comfort. Pass around the potatoes, veggies, and meat, please! Pictured is my Chorizo Green Bean Casserole.
Cozy Blankets & Warm Socks- Nothing brings the most instant comfort this chilly time of year than a cozy blanket and warm, fuzzy socks. Can you tell I need to put the heat on? Seriously though, I brought my adult “baby blanket” with me traveling the past 2 months and you would not believe the comfort it brought me while away from home. I just felt so at ease with my fleece to cuddle up to on the train.
Nature– Now that we have our own woods, I love to sit on my porch or couch and take it all in. The feelings of stress totally melt away when you look into your backyard and see a baby deer prancing around in joy because the farmer left some corn behind. Having come from a city where trees were a commodity, having hundreds now is such a blessing.
I just love to see the colorful birds, falling leaves, and wildlife all around me. Nature is truly a blessing!
As you can see, the things that bring me comfort & joy in life are some of life’s simple pleasures. Things we might take for granted, but should not.
