Is a Mosquito Joe Mosquito Control Service Worth It?

When you live adjacent to wetlands and dark, wooded areas mosquito control is everything. I really thought the mosquitos were bad when I lived in a more rural part of the city, but living in a farmland town with lots of woods has me itchy just thinking of mosquitos. We moved in almost one year ago and noticed right away that we couldn’t really enjoy our yard past sunset. We tried candles and sprays, for mosquito control, but I swear they were more of a mosquito attractant!
Thankfully, I learned this year that there are services that exist where people can easily have their yard sprayed for mosquitos. One service that we have recently had performed was by Mosquito Joe of Hingham-Easton.
Never heard of Mosquito Joe? That is ok! Mosquito Joe offers onsite residential and commercial mosquito control by trained technicians. To get the service, you simply can visit their website or call 1-855-275-2563 and they will put you in touch with your local service people.
Then, your local service provider will set up a spray date for your service to be done. Since they cannot spray in inclement weather, they would reschedule your service should it rain.
Our local Mosquito Joe came out to spray on a Saturday afternoon. A trained technician arrived on time to spray our yard. He was friendly and careful to explain the service and how they do not spray near gardens when people/pets are outdoors and such.
He used two different spraying mechanisms to make sure our wooded area was properly sprayed. Since we are just feet from wetlands, that is where a lot of focus and concentration went. They sprayed the perimeter of the yard and made sure to alternate between sprayers. The technician was also fully equipped with PPE which was nice to see.
The spray is a pesticide (same one active ingredients found in flea & tick treatments) which encapsulates to bond to foliage so animals cannot lick it off.
A Mosquito Joe treatment can last up to 21 days and can be performed on a regular or as needed basis. You can get a one-time treatment before an outdoor party, or just to try their services. Regardless, Mosquito Joe can suggest the right mosquito prevention method for your particular needs. Application times are usually less than 15 minutes!
