How To Easily Decorate a Fabric Pencil Pouch with Gel Pens
This DIY fabric pouch tutorial is sponsored by The Brand Connection/Pentel, all ideas and opinions are my own.
Do you, or your children love to craft, and create? I know my 3 children surely do! My oldest who is 11 1/2 (she just started middle school) loves to draw, embellish, and color. She has quite the collection of artwork in her room, and is always asking if she can take certain items from the recycle bin so she can upcycle them. She is such an ambitious little artist who can turn ordinary things into treasures.
One of my daughter’s favorite brands is Pentel because they make “the best colored pens”. Last year, she she started her collection and slowly added to it when the colors she wanted went on sale. When she recently received a shipment of new Pentel items which include the Pentel Pop Milky collection, Solar, and Sparkle items she was over the moon excited! She wanted to create some pouches for school so she we picked up some plain white zippered pouches at the craft store, some stencils, and she had a blast creating designs.
Of course my youngest daughter wanted in on the action so my oldest shared a pouch with her so she could create as well.
Both girls favored the Pentel Pop Milky collection because they loved the fluorescent colors. These pens were something I enjoyed when I was younger so it is nice to see this product trending again. We used these pens on our fabric crafts, but they are ideal for paper, and feature a comfortable latex-free grip. When you use them on black paper they colors POP!
The Sparkle gold & silver pens were a commodity that gave their pouches a dazzled look. These pens feature ink that color changes when writing on black or white paper–super cool!! These pens are ideal for card making, and coloring.
We also received some Sharp mechanical pencils from Pentel that helped my girls to trace their designs via stencils onto the fabric pouches.
Here is the supplies used to easily decorate a fabric pencil pouch with gel pens:
- White zippered pouches
- Stencils of your choice
- Mechanical Pencils (we used Pentel Sharp which provided the perfect line)
- Pentel Pop Gel Pens – Milky, Solar, and Sparkle
Find the center of your pouch and tape your stencil on.
Using a sharp pencil (mechanical works great) trace the design onto the pouch.
Remove stencil, and begin to color in your design.
Once finished allow to dry. I did not do this yet, but I might spray these with a water repellant to prevent bleeding.
