Our Day at the Barnstable Fair

There is something that ignites the child in me when I enter fairgrounds. The smells of sweet cotton candy, fried dough, and peppers and onions wafted through the air. The first glimpse of the rides in motion with screams of joy floating around. The curiosity of people peddling their handmade goods and vendors offering free samples. These are all experiences from my childhood that I was reminded of almost two weeks ago at the Barnstable County Fair in Falmouth, MA.
Our first stop was to visit some of the booths to explore new products and purchase handmade goods. There were so many fun things to see and experience!
As we made our way down the line of tents, we found the U.Fund Dreams Tour tent. There was a financial expert on hand to answer any questions curious parents had about 529 college savings plans. I learned how important it is to have 529 plans for our children and that you can open a 529 plan with no money down! One thing our family loved is that the plan offers so many tax benefits.
We even learned that if one of our kids with a 529 plan decides not to go to college, we could rollover their 529 to another child’s saving plan. That really gives us peace of mind knowing our investments will be efficient.
While we chatted with the expert, our kids got to place the sheep game, color their own bookmarks, and explore the other activities within the tent.
After exploring the U.Fund Dreams Tour tent, we moseyed over to the rides and had a tough decision on which one to let the kids go on. They were allowed 2 rides each, but with over 15 rides it was tough to settle!
We also had the chance to explore the wildlife exhibit which was super impressive! They had such exotic animals which was actually surprising! The kids had a chance to get up close and personal with llamas, goats, turtle, horses, and more!
I would say our trip to the Barnstable County Fair was well worth the traffic we endured to get there. If you would like more information on MEFA’s U.Fund College Investing Plan, visit their official site.
