Last weekend, our family had the pleasure of attending the Cambridge Arts River Festival thanks to our partnership with MEFA and Fidelity. This gigantic festival is in the Central Square Cultural District, in the Mass Avenue area. To say this festival was not the largest we have ever seen and experienced would be an understatement.
Our family of five decided to take the Boston T (subway trains) from Quincy, MA into the area. We have never been on the T or any subway for that matter, so it was surely an interesting experience in itself.
We felt a little uneasy at first, but once we hopped aboard the train, we realized it was truly a way of life for many Bostonians. My dad used to take it multiple times a day when he worked in Boston, but the closest I ever got to it was touching his MBTA tokens.
Our subway ride literally dropped off right in the center of the River Festival and we were quickly immersed in culture, music, artistic dances, and more!
There were thousands of people walking around, admiring handmade artisan crafts and paintings.
I admit, it was quite overwhelming at first, but once we started to explore, it was much more relaxing. We shopped for handmade gifts and enjoyed food from different cuisines that we would have otherwise not typically experienced.
There were performers on almost every corner –it was so interesting to watch their immense talents come to life in front of us.
The U.Fund Dreams Tour tent was hard to miss and positioned in a spacious area. We have visited the U.Fund Dreams Tour tent many times over the past couple of years and love how it changes slightly each year. This year, the tent featured more play areas for children to color and take pictures.
I thought the area was very well planned out because it allowed our kids to play while Jared and I could chat with onsite experts about the 529 plan that MEFA offers. Personally, we love our 529 college savings plans that we set up for our three children because they offer peace of mind and security for our children’s educational futures.
The U.Fund Dreams Tour will be all around the greater Boston area throughout the summer & fall seasons! Check out the local events to meet with on-hand experts to learn more about MEFA’s U.Fund College Investing Plan.

Handmade things are almost always a good thing to buy at a festival. I love the atmosphere, and the kids activities keeps them entertained.
I almost went to this. I wanted to, but Cambridge is super hard to get to, so we sat it out….and now I am regretting it.
