Can you believe that Christmas is one week away? I cannot either!! I still have so much to do and way too many gifts to wrap! We do however, have one less gift to put under the tree thanks to Amazon.
When my son’s new Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet arrived, I knew we couldn’t hold off giving him the early gift. You see, he recently had a Fire 7 Kids Edition Tablet that he loved, but he was ready for an upgrade and so were we!
Actually, all 3 of my children have Fire 7 Kids Edition Tablets, but we will likely be upgrading the girls too. We are an Amazon family for so many reasons but their Two-Year Worry-Free Guarantee is the piece of mind we love. We have actually had to return 2 Fire Kids Edition tablets in the last 3 years and it was so easy- no questions asked- just print the label they provide you and send it back. It is no wonder that Amazon makes the #1 kids tablet on the market!
The rubber kid-friendly case that comes on Kids Edition Tablets is also a life saver! I cannot tell you how many times my children have dropped theirs but this case keeps them perfect!!
My 3 kids love the One Year of Amazon FreeTime Unlimited that comes with each new Kids Edition Tablet. After the first year, Amazon FreeTime Unlimited starts at just $2.99 per month for Prime members (or $4.99 for non-Prime members).
Why Buy a Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet?
Ok, now onto the new Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet which just might be my fave of the bunch! I love that the screen is larger than the previous model. This means the kid-proof case it not interchangeable with the 7 model.
The Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet retails for $129.99, and comes with
one-year subscription to Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, providing access to over 20,000 books, videos, Audible books, educational apps, and games that are age-appropriate and hand-curated by the Amazon FreeTime team.
I love that my kids have access over 1,000 age-appropriate, Spanish language books, videos, educational apps, games, and Audible books, plus thousands of kid-friendly and hand-curated websites and web videos.
My kids might not love this setting, but I love the parental control features these tablets allow me to set in FreeTime. I can set 1 hour time limits, adjust age filters, disable/enable web access (we have ours disabled), and turn of in-app purchasing. I can do all this anywhere from my mobile phone too which is amazing!
Since we are in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, I have been allowing my kids to listen to Christmas music on their Kindles, and watch Christmas-related videos like Pete the Cat: A Groovy New Year.
My son can also listen to books like The Night Before Christmas while cleaning his room for Santa.
Overall, we are loving the upgrade from the Fire 7 Kids Edition Tablet to the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet and hope to be able to upgrade our other two models.
If you are still considering what to get that special child in your life, you really cannot go wrong with an Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition Tablet.

Once my grandson is older, I am going to get him a Kindle. Right now he loves watching educational videos on my cellphone. At 3 years old, he already knows how to navigate my phone to get to the apps that he uses. His very own Kindle loaded with books and learning apps would be fantastic!

I’m so jealous of today’s kids. I wish this type of technology had been available when I was a kid!

My kids each have fire tablets. They are perfect and they use them all the time. They have used other kids and none worked as well.
