Chewy Chocolate Chunk or chip cookies are one of my ultimate weaknesses. I am not even a huge sweets enthusiast but the combination of ooey, gooey premium chocolate and browned cookie dough is enough to make me an addict! I especially love using American Heritage® Chocolate in my cherished Chewy Chocolate Chunk Cookies recipe.
About 2 years ago, I was introduced to the American Heritage® Chocolate brand when visiting Williamsburg, VA and have been a fan ever since. Their premium 18th century inspired chocolate products are so flavorful and have noticeable hints of citruses, and spices that are not found in most mainstream chocolate brands. Plus, all American Heritage® Chocolate products are certified Kosher, made with all-natural ingredients and no preservatives.
I am especially happy that my local Cracker Barrel® Old Country Store now sells the American Heritage® Chocolate Bites. These bites come in a small muslin bag that can be reused. I have a slight obsession with that store and restaurant so I know I will be picking up a few more bags while they last! Each of the 7 pieces are individually wrapped, and are made to be savored over time (if you can resist). They are similar to the Chocolate Block but are more bite-sized and easier to enjoy. Speaking of the Chocolate Block, I recently used it to create a fresh batch of Chewy Chocolate Chunk Cookies.
Here is what you will need to recreate them. *Please note, you can use the American Heritage® Chocolate Bites, but you’d need quite a few packages. Enjoy those, and consider using their Chocolate Block since it is made to cook with.

- 2 teaspoons of corn starch
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/3 cup of white sugar
- 1/2 cup of light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 stick of unsalted butter- softened
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 1 cup of chopped American Heritage® Block Chocolate or chocolate chips

Add in wet ingredients, and mix until dough forms into a ball
Work in chocolate until even;y disbursed.
Place cookie dough on parchment paper and roll into a log; refrigerate for at least 30 mins.
Pre-heat oven to 350 and prepare two baking sheets with parchment paper
Once cookie dough is chilled, form hefty sized balls 2 tablespoons sized balls and evenly space them on your baking sheet.
Bake for 12 minutes or until edges are golden brown, and centers are still fluffy and raised.
Cool for at least 30 minutes before enjoying.
These cookies are way too good for their own good and can be stored for up to one week!…I am sure they will not last though!!
