Chocolate Orange Mousse Recipe #PillsburyBakeoff
As I member of the Platefull-Co-Op I recently received a super generous package in to help inspire me, and to celebrate the official 47th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest. One of the many amazing items they sent us included the Pillsbury Bake-Off 100 Winning Recipes Cookbook. My mouth watered as I delved into each page, and saw all the delectable sweet and savory recipes that included the Pillsbury family of products. It was a hard decision, but I decided that a the Chocolate Orange Mousse Recipe would be a great one for me to recreate.
The original recipe was created by Dion Frischer of Ann Arbor, MI. Her recipe was originally Dark Chocolate Orange Mousse. I would have loved to try that version, but my local markets only had the Pillsbury Chocolate Frosting; so that is what I went with. The beauty of this recipe is that it only took 10 minutes total to prep!! The ingredients list was very easy to manage, and the finished product was certainly a winner!
Check out my adapted recipe for Chocolate Orange Mousse (Originally made by Dion Frischer) from last year’s Pillsbury Bake-Off 100 Winning Recipes:
- 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup Pillsbury Chocolate Flavored Frosting
- 1/2 cup Smucker’s Natural’s Sweet Orange Marmalade
- 1/2 sliced almonds
- 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of grated orange peel
Using a large bowl, or stand mixer, add your whipping cream, and powdered sugar. Using your mixer’s highest speed, mix until stiff peaks form. Take out about 1/2 cup of whipped cream fro garnishing your pudding cups; set aside.
Add your orange marmalade, and frosting; mix on high for an additional minute; fold in almonds
Fill 4 small desert bowl with pudding, and garnish each with the reserved whipped cream. Zest an orange over each cup, and serve.
After just making this chocolate orange mousse, I have to say it is so rich, and delicious! My kids each loved every bite, and requested I make this everyday! I found the flavors to beautifully complement each other, and would even consider adding a little dark chocolate shavings to garnish each cup next time around.
