When I was a little girl, my mom always let me watch and help her cook. I spent hours watching her, and graduating from ingredient fetcher, to dish washer, and finally cook. With all the hours spent observing my mom cook each day’s meal, I can honestly say I learned from the best! Now that I have kids I have slowly been allowing them to help me in the kitchen too!
Recently, we received a Heart-Shaped Waffle Maker in from Holstein Housewares. This brightly purple colored small kitchen appliance is part of their Fun Collection and appeals to children and adults alike. It is perfect for springtime breakfast like blueberry heart-shaped waffles, and more! My family and I LOVE waffles and could eat them everyday for breakfast so I knew my 8 year old would love to help in the kitchen.
I let my daughter mix the batter, pour it into the waffle iron, and sprinkle the powdered sugar over our waffles. It was our first time using this machine so I wanted to get used to it first before I fully relied on her to evenly distribute the batter. By using an ice cream scooper, I filled each well with batter and was careful not to let it pool around the mold. It was easier than I anticipated so I let her do the second batch all by herself.
A few things I enjoyed about this product is that it really is kid friendly and much more easier to work than that “oven” every kid dreams of owning. Plus, the fact that we could even make heart-shaped waffles on a stick was super appealing! We did’t try this out *yet* but we will next time!
I also love that is saves time which is hug now that the weather is warmer, and I just want to be outside. Soon, the fresh blueberries will be sprouting, and I cannot wait for that. I still have some from last year’s harvest, and I used them to also make some blueberry waffles. These made the perfect springtime breakfast and were just the right amount of “sweet”.
I love that Holstein Housewares makes such fun and innovative family-friendly kitchen appliances. These help make my job as a mom easier because my child is not standing over a potentially dangerous hot stove to learn. I did not mention above that I often was splattered by grease, and such while helping my mom. I much rather teach my daughter kitchen basic with a safe, and fun waffle maker that fully cooks waffles in 4 minutes in a safe manor.
