If you have kids like us, you know that the key to staying as stress free as possible is to be organized and prepared. While I do try to wing it somedays, I find my best days with my kids home this summer are the ones that I have planned and kept organized. My kids thrive off of schedules and structure and tend to get super cranky when I run out of their favorite breakfast or drinks. That is why I created this DIY Kitchen Organization Station for Kids.
“Where is my play clay? Do you know where the pencils are? Mom, do you have any paper to draw on?“
“Can we have a drink and a snack?”
These are some of the questions that my kids always ask me when I am at my busiest! That is why I decided that I am going to give them not only some much-needed organization this summer but also some independence.
That is where the DIY Kitchen Organization Station for Kids comes into play. You see, my husband typically makes breakfast during the school year. However, in the summer he is often gone by the time my kids wake up.
My middle schooler knows how to prep breakfast options like cereal and Quaker Instant Oatmeal, Maple & Brown Sugar, so it is a huge help to have the packets in my children’s organizational cubbies.
When they wake up, my oldest helps to prep their breakfast. This eliminates cold oatmeal or soggy cereals.
The night before, I add in the day’s snacks, drinks for activities (like the kid’s gym), and breakfast—whether it be an oatmeal packet or a bag of cereal.
To make this DIY Kitchen Organization Station for Kids, we purchased and assembled a three-tier cubby.
Then, I found the perfect-sized little canvas baskets for the drinks and snacks.
I love that the baskets are compact enough to allow for my children’s books and playtime activities for the day.
Each night, I restock their cubbies with a shelf-stable breakfast option and some beverages for the next day.
Now, they are no longer wondering where things like their library books or summer assignments are.
I love that I have cut out some time from having to constantly stop work to get them snacks.

I am loving this idea. When my kids were younger this is something I would have definitely have put to use. This sale would be a great time to stock up on Gatorade. My husband drinks a lot of it.
