Dollar Store DIY Fall Harvest Owl Wreath
As I sit here and type this post up for my Dollar Store DIY Fall Harvest Owl Wreath, Fall 2015 is in 30 days, 14 hours, 9 minutes, and 18 seconds. I guess you could say I am actively counting down the seconds until my favorite season of the year arrives! Ever since I was a child, I have always looked forward to the cool fall months. I loved heading back to school, decorating, and I guess even trick or treating with my plastic mask costumes.
My birthday is in the Fall too so I may be a little partial, but it has always been an extra special time for me. My mom would always decorate the home with fall posters (hey, it was the 80’s/90’s) pumpkins, and fall wreaths. She was an avid crafter and would buy her supplies at crafts stores to make decorations for our home.
I swear, she even use to spray the leaves I’d collect in the school yard with tons of Aqua Net to keep them from rotting. She must have gotten that tip from one of the many ladies magazines she’d read because it actually worked! I guess that tall can of magenta hair spray was the “it” product back in it’s day for many reasons!
Nowadays, I find myself following after my mother’s footsteps in that I really do love crafting. Pre-made table centerpieces, and fall wreaths are SUPER pricey this time of year. Sure, I do love the lush creations they sell in specialty shops, but my wallet is not on the same page. That is why I like to shop for the non-gaudy wreath and craft supplies you can find at dollar stores.
My most recent trip to Dollar Tree proved to be successful when I was able to find primitive fall flowers and even an owl made of of burlap. I had a few twine wreaths left from the Target Dollar Spot so I was able to make two fall wreaths for under $10!!!
Not to toot my own horn but these are actually really cute, and came out pretty darn good. The featured owl one here is slightly crooked, but you get the point on how you too could re-create this beauty for just a few bucks. I wanted to share this Dollar Store DIY Fall Harvest Owl Wreath early in the season because chances are all these nice supplies and flowers will run out quickly since they are of surprisingly great quality for a buck!
Here is what I used to make this Dollar Store DIY Fall Harvest Owl Wreath:
- 4 varieties of burlap flower bunches from Dollar Tree $1
- 1 Owl $1
- Glue sticks- used 1 1/2
- Glue Gun -already owned-an AWESOME investment!
- Twine Wreath -$1-$3 Dollar Tree had some but my is from the Target $1 Spot
This wreath was actually super simple to make because the flower heads on these flower bunches slipped right off and required no wire cutters. I laid out an alternating flower pattern and saved about 4 inches to the side for the owl placement. Each flower and even the owl was hot glued on in minutes. There really was not much to making it accept for the fact that I saved a ton of money!
Add some harvest flair to your front door with this Dollar Store DIY Fall Harvest Owl Wreath. There were so many flowers, leaf picks, and small harvest trinkets you can purchase for just a buck too!
That is actually really cute. I love owls and that is a great way to incorporate it onto the wreath!
That looks like a lot of fun to do and with only spending a few dollars it is a great way to save and still decorate the house beautifully!
