Easy Mango Salsa with Basil-A Healthy Game Day Salsa Recipe
Mango Salsa has always been one of them foods that I would flock to restaurants to eat. I love mango salsa over fish, chicken, or alone as a dip. There are just so many variations of this healthy fruit and veggie salsa that boasts a sweet and savory flair. Today, I finally decided that I was going to make my own mango salsa with basil. The only reason I used basil (which was mighty delicious) was because not one store around me had fresh cilantro so I experimented, and it worked!
Making mango salsa was pretty darn easy and painless! I peeled my mangoes as I would a potato, and then sliced and diced them around their stone. I used three full sized mangoes for this recipe because I am serving it with my dinner tonight. I wanted to make sure I had plenty for my little ones who will either love it or hate it. So far, the little one seems to love picking out the mangoes.
Here is what you will need for a nice sized bowl of Easy Mango Salsa with Basil:
- 3 mangoes peeled, and diced
- juice of 1 small lime
- half of a med/lg red onion chopped
- salt & pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh basil
Mix all the above fresh produce together after dicing/chopping and then add the lime juice and spices. Allow the flavors to meld together for at least a few hours before serving. I may be slightly addicted to this mango salsa with basil, but that’s ok because I know the ingredients are fresh, and healthy!
