When I was a kid, my mom was obsessed with my hair being prefect at all times. I actually dreaded the mornings before school because she would take almost 30 mins to style my hair with french braids, shark braids, and even a side braid hair style that I had to stay still for. While I didn’t love all the time it took, I did love all the cool colorful Goody hair accessories my mom had for me. My favorite retro Goody Hair Accessories were the colorful plastic animal hair barrettes, and ponytail holders, and the fun combs they had.
Flash forward 20 years, and Goody is still a household name, and a leader in hair styling. Their Ouchless Elastics, and huge assortment of hairbrushes are perfect for all hair styling needs, and types. Since our girls misplace hair brushes all the time, we recently headed to Walmart to stock up on Goody hairbrushes that would fit our styling needs. Since we have thick hair that tends to get knotty quickly, we went with the following style brushes:
Goody Ouchless Girls Oval Brush: This brush speaks for itself! It is perfect for my girls and delivers gentle detangling. The exclusive FlexGlide™ bristles combine strength with flexibility to get through messy hair (like my oldest’s) gently. It is a “no tears or crying” type of brush!
Goody TangleFix Brush: This brush is perfect for my middle child with curly, knot-prone hair. By starting form the bottom up, I can easily detangle her wet hair. I love the unique shape of this brush, and she enjoys the massage aspect.
Goody Detangle It Oval Cushion Brush: Perfect for daily styling, and my *personal* favorite of the three. I love the fact that this brush is cushioned which gives it a great massaging feel. It is also comfortable to hold and provides painless brushing. I find it also helps to distribute the natural oils in my hair which is great.
Since I have 2 bathrooms, it is awesome to keep a Goody Brush in each for the hectic mornings, and one in my gym bag. During the week, I do not always have the time to fully braid my daughter’s hair so I do a quick and easy side braid for little girls. It is super fast to do and looks adorable and keeps the hair from my daughter’s face.
Next, I mist my daughter’s hair with water.
Then, I brush her would be bangs to the side, and keep about 3 inches slicked over from the forehead back.
Brush that part and separate it into 3 pieces, and make a simple braid.
The style is simple, but cute and easy. I am not like my mother with having to take forever to style my kids hair. I like to give them independence and only step in when needed. My 9 year old can even do this style herself which is great!
