Getting a Clean Start in our New Home
Can you believe the back to school season is quickly approaching? It seems as if this summer is flying by and it will soon be fall! I am not ready for all this change yet as we are still in the middle of a major life change. As many of you know, we recently closed on our new home. However, it is kind of tricky because we still own and live in our old one. Lately, we have tried our hardest to tidy up our new space to create a clean start in our new home. I was asked to participate in the #CleanStart campaign, sponsored by Walgreens. Although I have been compensated, all opinions are my own.
Right now, I am going slightly crazy and have enlisted the help of all three of my kids to unpack, and help clean the new home. You wouldn’t believe how dusty a new construction home can be.
One day everything is all cleaned, and the next, it is all dusty again! I have my three little helpers sweeping, dusting, putting dishes away, and unpacking.
We really need to all work together to get this place ready for the first week of September which is when my kids start school. This year school will be a little tricky because we will be commuting 20 miles to take them to school.
We were just not ready for them to leave their old school behind and we hope it all works out. We love their school because it is like a small community of love and knowledge.
What really makes this year extra special is that we also have a kindergartner and a middle schooler! How exciting is that? While we have not really done too much back to school shopping yet, we have been to Walgreens to pick up some cleaning supplies, and some school supplies.
One of the top requested items on all three of my children’s back to school supply lists are Lysol® Disinfectant Wipes. We love the Lemon & Lime scented wipes because I fancy anything citrus scented.
Their schools depend on these wipes to make sure the tables, and play areas stay clean and tidy.
We also love them in our home because they make kitchen and bathroom cleanup a breeze.
While at Walgreens I also picked up some Lysol® Disinfectant Spray in Crisp Linen.
With the start of the school year, I know the ickies will be running rampantly throughout my home so I want to be prepared!
I also picked up some Finish Quantum which I needed for my new dishwasher. I never realized how awesome dishwashers were until my kids started school! I am so thankful to have a larger, updated model now!
Speaking of Lysol® products and back to school–did you know that Lysol® is the exclusive Household Cleaning Products Brand partner for Box Tops for Education™ helping Support Your School, One Clean Surface at a Time?!
This makes me SUPER excited because I LOVE supporting brands that give back to schools. Our children’s school is really small and depends on donations, and programs like Box Tops for Education™. Each Box Top is worth a whopping $.10 which can really add up quickly!
We always tend to buy products that feature Box Tops because our school collects them. Being able to support our children’s schools all while purchasing brands we love and trust is truly a win/win for our family!
Starting the weeks of July 30th, and August 13th you can score a great deal on Lysol® products at Walgreens. You can buy Lysol for $2.49 (35 ct Wipes, APC cleaners, Bathroom cleaners), as found in the Sunday Paper in the Walgreens weekly ad or Walgreens stores at the entrance shelf.
Since my kids are getting older, they can also help around the house more when it is back to school time. While I take care of the heavy duty cleaning, my kids are starting to help with the lighter chores.
Here are some chores that are appropriate for kids 5-10 years old:
- Take out trash
- Dry Dishes
- Unload dishwasher
- Put clothes away
- Take out dog
- Sort recyclables
- Refill toiletries
- Make beds
- Put toys away
- Clean their rooms
