My Baby is Heading to Middle School

In roughly 60 days to be exact my baby is heading to middle school. I am not really prepared because she is my first baby. My little blue-eyed blonde haired cherub. I still remember her first kick in my belly, her first steps at almost 2 years old (she was a little lazy), her first words at 6 months, and her first day of school. She was so excited to start pre-school and meet new friends.
Now, she is still my blonde-haired, big, blue-eyed baby, but she is a tween who is already 10 1/2, and I have to mentally prepare for her first real day of middle school.
Let me tell you, time flies.
I really do not know how I got here to the ten-year mark so quickly, but I really need time to slow down.
My once so innocent child will now be entering the years where she might have her first heart break, first fight with friends, and first time she won’t be with all her siblings in the same class.
It crushes me to think that in another 5 years she will be well into high-school, and in ten years college. I am so not mentally ready for my child to be entering college, but I have to say I am financially prepared. In fact, each of my three children have a college savings fund that fits our financial needs and goals.
Since we are Massachusetts residents, we have the option to take part in the MEFA U. Fund College Investing plan, the Massachusetts 529 plan, which is managed by Fidelity Investments. I like to consider this as a smart choice and simple way to save for your child’s college future. For more than 30 years, the MEFA has been helping families to save for college expenses ahead of time through 529 plans. Their experts work with families like mine to easily save for their child’s future education expenses.
As parents, we know we can’t stop our children from growing and reaching milestones, but we can be financially prepared for our children’s futures. For more information about the MEFA U.Fund College Investing Plan, visit MEFA.org.
