Mother’s Day Cakes & Inexpensive Ways to Treat Mom!
Happy May! I thought I would never feel that warm May sunshine after the brutal winter that we endured this year. But, it is finally one of my favorite months for two reasons–my 12-year wedding anniversary is happening this month, and it is Mother’s Day! I know, I know–every day is Mother’s Day, right? When you have children, they can always find a way to appreciate you, BUT it is nice to have one special day too. Today, I am partnering with Rich Products/ Bettercreme® Whipped Icing Ask for Whipped and my local grocery store to share these Mother’s Day Cakes & 5 Ways to Treat Mom.
Showing your mom how much you appreciate her does not have to cost an arm and a leg. In fact, it can be done as simply as with a heartfelt card and something SWEET. To go a step further, you could even craft a card yourself. I know I love the little sentimental, handmade cards my kids make me.
They are so special, and I tend to save them all. In fact, I have a special drawing and card box that is filled to the brim with my kid’s little handmade treasures.
My family knows the way to my heart is through not only handmade goodies but also sweet treats! I LOVE me some cake or cupcakes on Mother’s Day! I do not need anything fancy either! Just a small cake that is big enough for us all to share is ideal. But, I do always make one request-it must have Whipped Icing. My husband knows to Ask for Whipped!
Ever since we started buying cakes at our local grocery store and they asked if we wanted Traditional, Buttercreme, or Whipped Icing, we went with Whipped and NEVER turned back.
You see, when you Ask for Whipped you really do get the BEST icing the store has to offer. It is NOT thick, chalky, greasy, gritty, or overly sweet. In fact, when you Ask for Whipped Icing, you get a light, fluffy frosting that contains less sugar and fewer calories. Vanilla Perfect Finish Bettercreme Whipped Icing (as featured on these two cakes) has no trans-fat allowing for a more guilt-free treat for mom!
The best part is, you or your family don’t even have to go through the effort of baking the cake (and messing up your kitchen!) — your local grocery store bakery can make mom her perfect cake with fun Whipped Icing choices like S’mores, Naturally Flavored Lemon, Cookies & Creme, or Salted Caramel. The choices are abundant! For me, I am such a no-frills kind of girl, so the Vanilla Whipped Icing was perfect! I just wanted something basic that had a Mother’s Day touch to showcase for you all, and hopefully enjoy again on Mother’s Day…hint, hint!
These cakes are from our local grocery store. They were more than willing to customize them with these Mother’s Day additions at no-charge. Be sure to ask your store what kind of cake/cupcake decor they have available for your Mother’s Day cake. Ok, now that you all know to get Mom a Whipped Icing cake from the grocery store, here are some other inexpensive ideas to celebrate her on Mother’s Day:
- Provide her an at-home mani/pedi and massage.
- Make her all meals including breakfast in bed.
- Instead of buying her flowers that die, why not buy her a rose bush and plant it in her yard?
- Spend the day together.
- Watch a movie.
- Take a walk.
- Give her a gift basket of goodies you found on sale.
These are just some of the fun ideas you can partake in to celebrate your Mom. I know my Mom loves cake too, so I will be sure to head to my local Stop & Shop or Shaw’s to pick her up a Whipped Icing cake!
I mean doesn’t this icing just look so yummy? You be the judge! Visit Ask for Whipped and let me know what flavor icing speaks to you, and be sure to follow @AskForWhipped on Instagram for more tasty ideas.
