Is staying healthy on your bucket list this year? Perhaps you have made a New Year resolution to be healthier and focus on adopting new, healthy habits that can support your efforts?
Perhaps you want to start taking vitamins, drinking more water or start exercising more? These are all great ways to support your overall health needs! Today, I wanted to remind everyone that small steps can add up by adopting healthy habits!
Healthy Habit #1 – Always Wash Your Hands
Ok, while this sounds like an elementary school-like habit you might be surprised by how many people do not do this! I am always horrified when I (gulp) use a public restroom and people literally walk right out of the stall.
Some people even think along the lines of, well it was just a quick trip. The truth is, germs are EVERYWHERE, but you can keep yourself healthier after you touch knobs, handles, etc. by simply washing your hands.
One of my favorite soaps to use this time of year to help combat the cold/flu germs is Dial Complete Antibacterial Foaming Hand Wash. This nicely scented product can be found at Walmart and kills 99.9% of germs. Formulated with antibacterial ingredients, it is tough on germs, but safe for hands.
Healthy Habit #2- Take a Probiotic/Prebiotic Combo
Ok, so hand washing is an excellent way to prevent germs on the skin from entering the body, BUT how to do help what’s on the inside? I help support my gut by taking a probiotic daily.
Recently, I started using BOTH a prebiotic & probiotic product. It is called
Align Dualbiotic Gummy and you can find it at Walmart in the supplement aisle. I love this product because it does not make me gag like traditional probiotics do. It is a great-tasting gummy and boasts 1 gram of sugar, (naturally flavored) prebiotic fiber, inulin, to help nourish good bacteria in your digestive system
Products like Align Dualbiotic Gummy are especially great to take after a regimen of antibiotics because they can help to support your gut to get back on track after being depleting.
Healthy Habit #3- Get Enough Fiber
I don’t know about you, but making sure I have enough fiber each day is very important to me. My lifestyle depends on the fiber content in foods I eat. But, like most not everyday I can meet my bodies needs. Thankfully, there are products like Metamucil Sugar Free Smooth Orange (available at Walmart).
Ok, so I am sure many of you equate fiber to older people issues, but that is so far from reality! We all need to meet our bodies fiber intakes daily to stay healthy. I really love Metamucil Sugar Free Smooth Orange because it tastes great and does not break my carb bank. I can add a half of an avocado, the serving size of this product, a couple of strawberries, and almond milk and make a delicious shake.
I love that this product contains 100% NATURAL PSYLLIUM FIBER, and no artificial sweeteners, or colors. It also helps to keep me satisfied longer but controlling my hunger.
Healthy Habit #4- Get Rest even if You are Sick
I know I am so guilty of trying to juggle a million things when I am sick. This often times can further deplete our immune systems and leave us feeling run down.
Soothing products like Vicks VapoCool Severe Medicated Drops can help ease sore throats while recovering. They provide a powerful gush of Vicks Vapors all while cooling even the most painful throat.
Eat a Well-Balanced Diet
For the New Year, I adopted a no sugar or processed carbs diet. So far, I have been very successful and have fully detoxed from my bad habits. I wanted to share this Low Carb Avocado Smoothie that uses Metamucil Smooth Orange (sugar-free) almond milk and a couple of strawberries.
This smoothie is the perfect way to get your fiber & healthy fat in. It will provide a power-packed smoothie for breakfast or lunch that is low-carb and easy to put together!
Now that you have a few healthy habits to adopt in the New Year, which is your favorite? Be sure to find these at Walmart.
