Mini Pizza’s Made Ragu Old World Style Traditional #NewTraDish
I have to say, I’m not one for a traditional bowl of spaghetti, or pasta. However, I can make some killer meat sauce thanks to Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional! A nice sauteed onion, Italian spices, and hamburger meat simmered in this classic sauce is enough to make any meat lover’s tummy growl. Since I’m not crazy for pasta, I decided to put a spin on this delicious meat sauce and use it as a topping for pizza dough.
Yep, that is right, I broke some boundaries, and topped my mini pizzas with my Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce, and all the fixings. Call it innovative, or creative–regardless, my #NewTraDish is irresistible. Plus, you can totally customize the toppings and use either gluten free dough or regular, but be sure to leave the Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce on because it my friends is the star of the show!
Want to make Mini Pizza’s made with Gluten Free Dough and Ragu Old World Style Traditional Sauce? Here is what you’ll need *Makes 6 mini pizzas*
- Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce -half of the jar
- 1 lb hamburger meat
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- Italian Spices
- salt & pepper to taste
- Gluten free pizza dough stretched out into 6 little 4-5 inch circles *I used pre-made*
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Red Bell Pepper
- Italian spices
In a skillet over medium heat, add a little olive oil, and then add your onion, and spices. Cook for around 3 minutes before adding your hamburger meat. Once you add your meat, be sure to brown it thoroughly. Once it is fully cooked return it to a simmer, and add half a jar of Ragú® Old World Style® Traditional Sauce; stir, and remove from heat so that it can thicken a bit. You only need a half of a jar for one lb of meat; otherwise it will become too watery.
Pre-heat your oven according to your pizza crust instructions. Mine was 400, and I had to bake my dough for 9-11 minutes (on a greased cookies sheet), and then flip it before adding toppings. It is always a must to pre-bake pizza dough a little so that is able to bake before toppings. If you do not pre-bake it, chances are it will remain raw.
Chop your toppings, and prepare your cheese.
Once pizza crust has been pre-baked remove from oven, and carefully top each with a generous scoop of meat, cheese, and toppings.
Return your pizzas to the oven to cook for around 4 minutes.
Once your cheese is melty, and bubbly; remove pizza from the oven, and enjoy!
