Minion Paint Splashed Cookies
This post is in partnership with Universal Home Entertainment.
Did you know that the #1 animated comedy of the year, Despicable Me 3 Special Edition is now on Blu-ray and DVD!
To celebrate the release of this highly anticipated film my kids and I decided to get creative with these Minion Paint Splashed Cookies. They feature snickerdoodle cookies with blue and yellow icing, vanilla frosting and candy canes.
YES, they do make blue and yellow candy canes for the holidays–how fun are they?
I know my kiddos didn’t get a chance to watch this flick in the theaters so they were so excited to watch it together as a family on Thanksgiving when it was released on Digital.
Our family definitely turned our Thanksgiving into a day to eat, relax, and enjoy family movie time. We started with some holiday flicks, and ended with Despicable Me 3.
Let’s just say that our son is Minion obsessed. He wants Minion this, and Minion that this Christmas. Santa has made note of a few things off his wish list and needs to scope out a few more.
And now that the film is also available on Blu-ray and DVD, if you are looking for a holiday stocking stuffer or gift idea, Despicable Me 3 would be perfect. You can find it in-stores everywhere, and make a fun gift of it. I purchased a Minion Popcorn Tin, Coloring Book, and some yellow and blue candy canes to make a cute gift idea for the family.
If you are having a Minion themed holiday party, I have a cute and not so conventional Christmas Cookie idea for you. Santa will surely love, and maybe even chuckle at these Minion Paint Splashed Cookies.
The cutest part is we even had the kids help us paint them! Ok, so maybe we just have an overly creative kid help style their toy, but all in all the setup is super fun!
For the cookies, we used cookie icing, vanilla frosting, and blue and yellow candy canes. We crushed the candy canes in a zippered bag to get the crushed candy effect.
The paint splashes were drizzle cookie icing that took about 30 minutes to set before assembling.
Last, but not least, the frosting that turned these cookies into sandwiches was piped on before adhering the crushed candy canes.
All in all, they came out very Minion “like” and tasted great.
They got two thumbs up from our official taste testers and I think Santa will even enjoy them.
Will you be enjoying these Minion Paint Splashed Cookies during your family movie night?
