Nourishing Avocado Banana Face Mask
“This avocado banana face mask is a fruity, all natural face mask that soothes, calms, and moisturizes my winter facial skin.”
The older I get, the more focused on healthier living I become. From the food I eat to the products I use to clean with; I try my best to use natural whenever possible. However, one area I was failing at miserably, was my daily beauty routine. I admit, I was using such harsh hair products, face creams, and even cosmetics with ingredients I could not even pronounce.
For the last year, I have been slowly going through my beauty care products and switching to natural products that leave my skin and hair feeling amazing without the guilt. One of my favorite all-natural, mainstream beauty brands is Burt’s Bees. I loved their tinted lip balms, crayons, lotions, and even hair products.
You bet I was super excited when I got the email that Burt’s Bees now made lipstick! Since I am a self proclaimed beauty junky I was super excited to try them out! I couldn’t wait to head to Target to check out the colors! While there, I picked up two shades that I knew would complement my skintone everyday of the week.
When I got home I was excited to create a natural beauty look featuring Burt’s Bees Lipstick, but first I needed my weekly Nourishing Avocado Banana Face Mask. I hate wearing makeup if my skin is not in tip-top shape. You see, I have super sensitive skin that will flare up when it gets too dry from this harsh New England weather. A few weeks ago, I thought I was so cool by purchasing a store-brand avocado mask. I figured since it was the holidays I could skimp on blending my fresh ingredients and just squeeze some green paste on my face.
It was on sale after all…
My face swelled up and broke out so bad it was scary! I have never experienced such an allergic reaction to a store-bought mask. Never again I vowed, so now I am back to making my weekly mask, made in my kitchen with ingredients I know.
So after I whipped up my Nourishing Avocado Banana Face Mask which is simply:
- 1/2 an avocado
- 1/2 a banana
- 1 egg yolk
Just whip all the ingredients in the blender and enjoy! I keep mine in the fridge or I reserve some and literally add it to a protein shake since it is food after all!
After allowing my mask to sit for 10 minutes, I decided to try out my new Burt’s Bees Lipsticks–YAY!
With 14 full-coverage, satin shades to choose from, I settled on Suede Splash and Nile Nude. These two colors match my skin tone perfectly and can be used for day or night looks. I tend to stick to more earthy colors so these worked best for me. Thankfully, non of the shades are too loud, so most people can get away wearing any of the beautiful colors.
What makes these so special?
Over the years, I have learned that most “pretty” lipsticks are treacherous on your lips. They make them feel either heavy, perfumed, sticky, dry, or flaky. No one wants to be tasting that nasty, waxy crap all day! Thankfully Burt’s Bees Lipstick is so lightweight! When you pick up a tube, it almost feels empty because it is 100% natural!
I couldn’t wait to try both shades which actually turned out to be very similar in color. Burt’s Bees Lipstick goes on very smooth, and are not thick, and pasty. Surprisingly, my lip color stayed on all day and even survived the gym! I honestly could not be any happier with these lipsticks and hope Burt’s Bees can get into the mascara, eye shadow and blush game!
If you love natural beauty, and 100% natural lipstick, Burt’s Bees Lipstick is the way to go. The tubes retail for $8.99 each at Target and should last a while!
My lips are truly thanking me for kicking my lead-filled lip colors to the curb! Love your lips and pick up a tube or three today Available at Target.
