Our Eulogy To Our Beloved Dad
“Life is pleasant. Death is peaceful. It’s the transition that’s troublesome.”
― Isaac Asimov
My father used to say his five kids were like the fingers on his hand. Each one was different but he loved them all the same..not one was better than the other. He ruled with tough love; sometimes a little too tough. Anyone who knew him knows he could be hard to bear at times, but that didn’t change our love for him. My father only wanted to be respected, and taught us that if you want respect you need to give respect.
Looking back through the years, Our father was such a hard worker. I can’t even count on my hands how many times that man took a vacation. There was no Disney World for him, no cruises just a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. He worked so hard to give us kids a good life; yet it seems he never even had a chance to enjoy his.
He was always starting a new projects in his large yard. He is the only man I knew that could put up a complete shed in a day from raw materials. He had so many wild dreams that included starting a dairy farm in Maine and living off the grid. A dream he’d never live, or see.
Despite the fact that some of us (his children) may have stumbled at times, my dad still loved us. Though he may have showed it in a different way…he cared. He loved his three girls, and two boys so much. Our father especially loved his three grandchildren who will now only have memories of their beloved VoVo.
Our dad was so special to us because he not only gave us life, but he also saved our lives when we had a house fire. When I had my wedding, I chose the song Wind Beneath My Wings to dance to with my father because that’s exactly what he was to all of us…our hero..the wind beneath our wings.
We love you dad and Vovo..you will always have a special place in our hearts.
xoxoxoxo times a million………
