Football season has started and so has my love for cooking in my new kitchen. Now that we have finally unpacked all the boxes we moved over last month, life is good. I am a lot less stressed and have started back up in the kitchen. Today’s recipe is one that will have your game day guests raving!
Homemade Caramelized French Onion Dip anyone? This game day dip recipe has been a favorite of ours for about 6 years and is adapted from Alton Brown. I love the sweet, slightly smoky flavor of this dip, and the fact that it has a lot less sodium vs pre-packaged dip mixes. It takes about a 15-minute time investment to make but yields enough dip for 8 people.
I love onions so much and almost feel like they are “the cherry on top” of savory dishes. They bring so much flavor and flair to so many meals and appetizers like this Homemade Caramelized French Onion Dip.
These days, many of you all are probably over weird recipe ingredients and tons of steps. We all know game days are suppose to be relaxing so the good news is this recipe is quick. You can actually make it the night before to save even more time and allow the dip to thicken up.
We used Hellmann’s Mayonaisse in this recipe because for us, it is the only brand that is tastes just right. During a shopping trip to Stop & Shop we were actually able to stock up on Hellmann’s thanks to the Unilever Deal. For a limited time, save $5 instantly when you purchase $15 of Unilever brand items.
Select Hellmann’s, Breyer’s, Klondike, Good Humour, Knorr Rice Sides, I Can’t Believe it’s Not Butter, Country Crock, and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream products were included. There are also some Sauve and Dove products that are part of the deal. You can get all the details in-store, in this week’s Stop & Shop flyer, or locate your local online sales flyer here.
Since Hellmann’s is our family’s choice of mayonnaise I made sure to restock my pantry since this recipe uses 3/4 cup.
