5 Unconventional Times I’ve Said Yes to My Kids
Kraft-Heinz sponsored this post, but the opinions are my own #WalmartCapriSun #Yessie
Please tell me I am not the only mom who often will cave in and say yes to my kids? Lately, as my kids get older, there have been so many unconventional times I’ve said yes to my kids. I think I *might* be getting softer as the years go on, but my kids have been surprised by mommy a lot more lately.
When my first daughter was a baby and young child I was super strict. Everything was structured, I went by the book, and she rarely was taken off her schedule. Then, when my second one came along I got a little more relaxed, and sometimes I let a little more slip by. Well, by the time I had my third, I realized that it was ok to say yes.
As a kid, I had lived with such a strict mom and it got me thinking…maybe saying yes sometimes isn’t so bad after all! Maybe, you too can relate to my thoughts?
Here are 5 Unconventional Time I’ve Said Yes to My Kids
Cupcakes Before Dinner– You all know I bake and cook up a storm in this house. My kids are a bit spoiled because they almost always have some kind of baked good at their little fingertips. Sometimes, I even say YES and let them have chocolate cupcakes right before dinner. YOLO, right?
Fruity Drinks Instead of Water– When my kids were babies, I never let them drink the fun and fruity drinks they always requested unless it was a special occasion. Their drink options were mainly water and milk. As they got older, I let them stray from these options, but not with just any old beverages. I still prefer juices with no artificial coloring, preservatives, or sweeteners.
Right now, I have been saying YES to Capri Sun Sport Fruit Frenzy. This clear fruity juice drink is free of artificial coloring, sweeteners, preservatives, and contains 25% fewer calories than leading regular sport drinks. It contains electrolytes, water and is void of high fructose corn syrup. You can conveniently find Capri Sun Sport Fruit Frenzy at Walmart in the juice aisle.
This fruit drink is perfect for after your kids enjoy themselves outside because it helps to replace lost electrolytes.
For our family, staying away from artificial beverage dyes is important so this drink makes both the kids, and myself happy!
Playtime Before Homework- Has your child ever gotten home from school and wanted nothing more than to ride bikes and play outside. I used to think homework has to be done the second my kids got home from school. Now, I often say YES when they ask to play first.
Pajamas in Public- I cannot begin to recount the times when my son wanted to wear his comic book themed pajamas out in public. While I might have not fully said YES to this one, I have often allowed him to wear his pajama shirt out.
TV on a School Night- In our home, we had a policy that Monday-Friday my kids were not to watch tv after going to bed. My kids hated this rule and would cry so much just to watch their shows as they drifted off to sleep. I started finding that they’d stay up even later with no TV playing so I said YES to TV again. Now, they fall asleep pretty quickly and then I shut it off. Score for mom!
What are some ways you have said YES to your kids lately?
