Stove Top Baked Beans Recipe
Stove Top Baked Beans are sweet & savory and made with common ingredients. Made on the stove, they are quicker and easier than oven-baked beans. Serve them with Gorton's all new Cod Fish Sticks for the perfect meal pairing.

- 2 ounces Bacon
- 15 ounces kidney beans rinsed, drained
- 15 ounces cannellini beans rinsed, drained
- 1/4 cup vidalia onion
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard powder
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp salt
Simply add the bacon strips to the saucepan and cook until crisp.
Remove the bacon, and leave the grease in the pan to cook the onion.
Cook the onion until slightly translucent (about 3 minutes) over medium heat.
Add in drained, rinsed beans and water.
Add in the spices, sugar, and ketchup.
Stir and cook over medium heat until boiling.
Once this is boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
Beans will continue to thicken as they sit. I recommend allowing them to "rest" for an additional 15 minutes.
Serve with crumbled bacon bits.
These can easily be reheated over low heat in a saucepan.
