Rich & Creamy Orange Hot Cocoa
Fresh orange peels are simmered in whole milk to create a citrus-infused milk that pairs perfectly with hot cocoa mix. This rich and creamy Orange Hot Chocolate is topped with real cream, chocolate shavings, and orange zest for a dessert-like treat.
Servings: 2 cups
- 1.46 oz Swiss Miss® Hot Chocolate (2 envelopes)
- 16 oz whole milk
- 2 orange peels from two large oranges
- 1 tsp orange zest
- 1 oz milk chocolate bar shaved
- 1 cup Reddi-wip®
Add the milk to small saucepan and place the peel of one orange into the pan with the milk.
Simmer milk over low-medium heat for about 5 minutes. You do not want to boil the milk.
Empty one envelope of Swiss Miss® Hot Cocoa Mix into your cups.
Remove peels from the milk and turn off heat.
Carefully add milk into both glasses.
Stir to combine the the milk and cocoa.
Add Reddi-wip® to each cup and then additional orange and chocolate zest.

How to make an orange twist
Using a paring knife or peeling tool, carefully trace around the orange until you have a swirly circle. Twist peel to form curly shape. Add twist to ice water until you are ready to add it to your cocoa cup because this helps it keep its shape.
Alternate Way to Make Orange Hot Cocoa
If you do not want to simmer orange peels in milk, you can prepare the cocoa with warmed milk and add one tablespoon of orange flavor shot (like Torani) to each cup.
You can also prepare this cocoa with water, or almond milk. However, it will not be as rich with just water preparation.
