Easy Refried Beans Tostada Recipe
Flour tortillas are baked until a crisp perfection in the oven. They are then topped with refried beans and fresh toppings. This is a simple Mexican recipe for lunch or dinner idea with lots of bold flavors.
Servings: 12 tostadas
- 12 ct. small flour tortillas
- 1 tbsp. olive oil *can also use cooking spray.
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 16 oz refried beans
- 8 oz salsa
- 2 tbsps. jalapeno diced
- 6 oz sour cream *can also use Greek yogurt.
- 6 oz Mexican shredded cheese blend
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Unwrap tortillas and brush or spray each with oil. Sprinkle each side with sea salt.
Bake each tortilla for 5 minutes per side. Tortillas will be golden brown with tiny bubbles.
Remove shells from oven and top with beans and cheese. You can optionally warm them in the oven for another 3 minutes to heat the beans and cheese.
Finish off tostadas with the fresh produce toppings & sour cream.

How to Store Shells
These shells will get soggy if they are not stored properly. I recommend only storing shells at room temperature in an air-tight container for up to 3 days (for best taste). You do not want to place them in the refrigerator or they will get limp and soggy.
How to Reheat
If you have leftover tostadas that are loaded with toppings, the shell will be very limp and no longer crunchy. While this isn't a perfect fix, heating them up on a baking sheet can help bring back their crunch. Heat them for 3-4 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
