How to Roast Asparagus

Roasting asparagus is a simple and delicious side dish or appetizer for any occasion. You can dress it up with a little bit of olive oil, salt and pepper before roasting, but you don't have to do anything else if you're short on time!

  • large, rimmed baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 1 pound asparagus peeled, and trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black or cayenne pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400° F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and place trimmed asparagus on it in one layer, not touching each other.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the asparagus and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika or cayenne pepper (optional).
  • Roast for 10-15 minutes until tender but still crisp. It will have a brighter green coloring. Serve immediately with lemon wedges if desired.
