Cheddar Biscuits from Scratch

An easy to make 15 minute cheddar biscuit recipe that can be made with biscuit mix.

  • 2 cups Bisquick
  • 2/3 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup cheddar cheese *Use thicker, creamier shreds
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp dried basil
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter


  • Heat oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, add biscuit mix, herbs, milk, and cheddar.
  • Mix biscuit mix thoroughly.
  • With wet hands, form dough into 10-12 balls. (dip hands in a bowl of water to prevent dough from sticking to your hands).
  • Place on a greased jelly roll baking sheet, or silicone mat lined sheet, and then brush them with melted butter.
  • Bake them for 8-10 minutes, and enjoy warm. Biscuit will feel firm and slightly springy when done.
