Apple slice donuts are made from real apples and topped with fruity yogurt and sprinkles. These fresh fruit snack donuts are perfect for kids parties with a more wholesome spin! We are Juicy Juice Ambassadors. All views expressed are that of our own.
Are your kids driving you batty yet this summer? My 3 sure are testing my patience. Despite having a vacation, multiple playdates and some planned activities two things still hold true. 1. They are bored out of their minds, and 2. They want to eat & drink every 30 minutes or sooner.
Surely my children have not been using their “in school stomachs”. It might sound funny, but I am quite literally running out of both snacks, drinks, and ideas.
Thankfully, I do have a stocked fridge full of water and Juicy Juice products. The kids know they are allowed to have this juice as long as they also drink water. I love that Juicy Juice is made with 100% juice. At least I know that each 8-ounce serving of juice = 1/2 cup serving of their daily fruit needs.
But, even drinks as yummy as Juicy Juice 100% fruit juice only go so far in the summer.
There is one thing I can guarantee with my 3 kids and it is that fact that one week they might love bananas or apples and the next week they might hate them.
I bet you guessed by now that my 3 were “over apples” even though I had 10 lbs on-hand. So, I wanted to make a fun snack to encourage them to eat them.
How to Make Apple Slice Donuts
Have you ever made or tried Apple Slice Donuts? Check out the ingredients and supplies you will need to make these.
Ingredients needed:
- Granny Smith Apples- I used 2 large ones to feed my 3 kids.
- Berry Yogurt (1 cup)
- Rainbow sprinkles
- Large piping star tip to make the cut out
- Spoon to spread on yogurt “frosting.”
These donuts are made by slicing freshly washed Granny Smith apples up into circles, and then hollowing out the centers using a large star piping tip to make a donuts shape.
A topping of fresh yogurt, and finally, some sprinkles makes these a fun snack for kids to get both their fruit & yogurt nutrients in for the day.
How to prevent apples from going brown
My kids were eating these right away so I did not have to do this step. However, if you are planning on making these for a party be sure to soak them in Kosher Salt with water. For every cup of water you use, add half a tsp of this salt.
Be sure to rinse and pat dry before eating! Additionally, you can add your slices to one quart of cool water and 3 tablespoons of lemon juice. Pat dry before frosting apple slices.
