Breakfast time around here is no easy feat! The key to making things run smoothly in our home is lots of organization and preparation. We line up our kid’s breakfast bowls, the flavors of Quaker® Oats they want in the morning, and their drink cups. Just one bump in the morning road can lead to complete chaos so we like to stay on the “breakfast ball”.
I love Quaker® Oats products because they allow my family’s breakfast routine to run smoothly. My kids love their Instant Oatmeal and sometimes even fight over certain flavors. This past week, they each really enjoyed their Banana-Walnut Chocolate Oatmeal Bowl which I partially prepared ahead of time to celebrate the “Bring Your Best Bowl” Quaker promotion.
While I could have just added fresh banana slices, and regular walnuts; I decided to go the extra mile and make a batch of banana chips in the dehydrator, and some candied walnuts. The banana chips were an all day thing, but I made a lot for snacking on. The candied walnuts were super quick, and produced some hard to resist little crunchy gems.
Here is how to recreate my Banana-Walnut Chocolate Oatmeal Bowl:
- Quaker® Oats Original Oatmeal in any form
- dehydrated banana chips
- 1 cup of walnuts
- 1 tablespoons of butter
- 1 teaspoon of water
- 1/4 cup of white sugar
- dark chocolate morsels
Directions:
Gather your candied walnut supplies
Add your sugar, and butter to a frying pan and cook over medium heat for 2 mins, stirring frequently.
Add in both your walnuts, and water; continue to stir until mixture gets deep golden brown, and slightly sticky
Once nuts are caramelized remove them immediately from the heat and carefully place them on a parchment lined baking sheet. Use your spatula to carefully separate them so they do not turn into clumps.
Prepare your oatmeal according to the packaging
Once done, add it chocolate chips, banana chips, and candied walnuts
This flavors in the bowl pair so well together and are truly delicious!
How would create a “Bring Your Best Bowl”? What would you add to your Quaker® Oats?
This is incredible. My husband’s favorite things are walnuts and bananas… might just surprise him with this for breakfast tomorrow. #client

Oatmeal is just delicious in general but add bananas, walnuts & chocolate? That’s a total win! I’m trying this recipe for sure! I usually add apples and pecans to my oatmeal.
Wow! I really need to step up my oatmeal game. I love oatmeal and have about three different kinds in my pantry right now. I usually just eat it as is, but seeing your creation has me rethinking things. This looks delicious!
