Breakfast time around here is no easy feat! The key to making things run smoothly in our home is lots of organization and preparation. We line up our kid’s breakfast bowls, the flavors of Quaker® Oats they want in the morning, and their drink cups. Just one bump in the morning road can lead to complete chaos so we like to stay on the “breakfast ball”.
I love Quaker® Oats products because they allow my family’s breakfast routine to run smoothly. My kids love their Instant Oatmeal and sometimes even fight over certain flavors. This past week, they each really enjoyed their Banana-Walnut Chocolate Oatmeal Bowl which I partially prepared ahead of time to celebrate the “Bring Your Best Bowl” Quaker promotion.
Did you know that “Bring Your Best Bowl” is a national sweepstakes, sponsored by Quaker where you could win BIG? That’s right, I was inspired to think beyond my typical bowl of Quaker® Oats to create a fun and flavorful breakfast combo. Fun additions like dehydrated banana chips, dark chocolate morsels, and candied walnuts made for a delicious and hearty breakfast.
Want to get in on the “Bring Your Best Bowl” fun? You could win $250,000! Each recipe submitted should only have 2-5 ingredients. You can head over to the sweepstakes site to learn more info. The top recipes will be created and sold in stores for a limited time! If you want to enter, you must be quick because the sweepstakes end March 16th. The winners will be announced in November of this year. here
I was so inspired by this sweepstakes that I recently headed to my local Walmart to pick up some additional Quaker® Oats products, some fresh bananas, walnuts, and dark chocolate chips. I wanted my bowl to taste like one of my favorite oat muffins which happen to be chocolate banana-nut flavored.
While I could have just added fresh banana slices, and regular walnuts; I decided to go the extra mile and make a batch of banana chips in the de-hydrater, and some candied walnuts. The banana chips were an all day thing, but I made a lot for snacking on. The candied walnuts were super quick, and produced some hard to resist little crunchy gems.
- Quaker® Oats Original Oatmeal in any form
- dehydrated banana chips
- 1 cup of walnuts
- 1 tablespoons of butter
- 1 teaspoon of water
- 1/4 cup of white sugar
- dark chocolate morsels
Gather your candied walnut supplies
Add in both your walnuts, and water; continue to stir until mixture gets deep golden brown, and slightly sticky
Once nuts are caramelized remove them immediately from the heat and carefully place them on a parchment lined baking sheet. Use your spatula to carefully separate them so they do not turn into clumps.
How would create a “Bring Your Best Bowl”? What would you add to your Quaker® Oats?
