When I was younger, I grew up watching my grandmother, aunt, and mother cook and bake. I used to love to watch them turn simple ingredients into such fantastic dishes and treats.
Now fast forward 25 years, and my 3 kids now enjoy watching me cook and bake. My youngest two children even attended a cooking summer camp because they enjoy it so much!
Today, I wanted to share one of our family’s favorite classic baked treats which happens to be blondie brownies.
Don’t you just love the warm, chewy, and flaky sensation blondies encompass? These easy to bake treats are family friendly and can be tailored to any preference with simple add-ins like nuts and chocolate chips.
This recipe can be made with or without these add-ins, but our family loves chocolate and the crunch of walnuts.
We recently discovered you can use new Domino® Golden Sugar as a replacement for white sugar in all your favorite recipes.
Domino® Golden Sugar
Domino® Golden Sugar is a less processed version of traditional white sugar. It is Kosher, Non-GMO Project Verified, and made of cane sugar. It measures cup for cup for regular white sugar and has a hint of molasses flavor that is super scrumptious.
How to Use Domino® Golden Sugar
Domino® Golden Sugar can be used in pretty much any recipe that calls for conventional sugar. It measures cup for cup for white sugar, which is perfect for baked goods like these blondies. It can also be used for drinks, savory dishes, and more!
You can currently find Domino® Golden sugar in 1.75 lb and 3.5 lb bags at your local grocer. Visit www.domingoldensugar.com for store locations, recipes, and more.
Ingredients
These blondies made with walnuts and chocolate chips feature simple ingredients that you might even have in your pantry today. To make a 9 x 13 pan of blondies, you will need the following ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsps cornstarch
- 2 sticks unsalted butter (1 cup)
- 1 3/4 cups Domino® Golden Sugar
- 2 tsps vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup walnuts (or your favorite nuts)
- 3/4 cup semi- sweet chocolate chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment paper. You want to tear off a 1 1/2 times the pan length to have some overhang to make it easier to pull out brownies & cut them.
Add flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking powder to a stand mixer, and mix on low to combine.
Add melted butter and sugar to a stand mixer, and mix until combined.
Add in eggs, yolk, and extract and combine until fully integrated.
Turn off mixer, and remove bowl from machine.
Fold in nuts and chocolate chips with a rubber spatula; dough with be thick.
Add dough to parchment lined pan and spread it evenly in the pan.
Bake for 25-30 minutes at 350. Use a toothpick at the 25-minute mark to test if the center is done. The blondies should be firm and not jiggly.
Once fully baked, carefully remove them from the oven with mitts, and allow them to cool for 30 minutes before cutting them into 15 pieces.
Enjoy them warm with some ice-cold milk, or coffee/tea.
