While my husband is not the same way, my dad sure was! There is just something so magical that has my taste buds exploding when the two flavors meet in the same bite.

What is a Monte Cristo Sandwich?
A Monte Cristo Sandwich is a fried or griddled ham and cheese sandwich. It is traditionally made with a French toast egg batter and fried until crispy and delicious. You can dust it with powdered sugar or serve it with delicious maple syrup.
Monte Cristo Ingredients
- Thomas Original Nooks and Crannies English Muffin
- 1/3 lb sweet sliced ham
- 4 slices of American cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tbsp. powdered sugar
How to Make a Monte Cristo English Muffin Sandwich
Since I love to mix things up, I decided to use Thomas Original Nooks and Crannies English Muffin instead of a thicker brioche bread.
I dipped the fork split English muffin in the egg custard batter and cooked it on a buttered griddle until both sides were fully cooked.
I then stuffed it with sweet sliced ham and American cheese. Lastly, I dusted it with powdered sugar and served it.
The end result = total deliciousness that my entire family loved! We enjoyed this sandwich for dinner because Thomas English Muffins are perfect for ANY time of day or meal.
