Thank you, al fresco Chicken Sausage for sponsoring today’s delicious snack board post. This fully-cooked chicken sausage is the star of our post!
Am I the only one who wants to already get a head-start on eating more nutritious foods? All that Christmas indulging has my body screaming for nature’s goodness. I know we are still technically in the holiday season, but I need change when it comes to party appetizers, so what better way to indulge than with a healthy snack board–also known as a grazing board?
This month, I learned how to make the BEST cheese board ever, but I wanted to lighten things up this New Years Eve with a large snacking board that went beyond the typically fatty cheese, and dried meats. That is why I included a warm element–al fresco Chicken Sausage.
al fresco Chicken Sausage is my family’s favorite sausage for so many reasons! Let’s explore why this sausage is perfect for your snack board.
Why Choose al fresco Chicken Sausage?
They have both full-cooked and fresh chicken sausage, patties, meatballs, links, and even bacon! However, for simplicity and ease today we are featuring the fully cooked chicken sausage products.
Currently there are 10 flavors
Made with lean, skinless chicken meat
70% less fat than conventional sausage (USDA)
30% less sodium than pork sausage (USDA)
Fully cooked, and ready in minutes!!
I used the al fresco Chicken Sausage in Sweet Italian for this snack board. However, any variety would work since they are all delicious. You can even cook up a new batch of sausage if it gets low since it is full-cooked!
What to add to a Snack Board?
Snack boards are so versatile but they differ than cheese board or charcuterie boards in that you can add whole fruits to them, dips like guacamole, and even cottage cheese to name a few. You really can add any fruits or easy to eat veggies you want! I based my options around what I had on-hand and what was on sale.
I used:
Cherries, red grapes, star fruit, pomegranate, cherry tomatoes, apricots, blueberries, tangerines, brie cheese, almonds, pistachios, and kiwi. I wanted things that played on the sweet & savory combo that worked together.
Besides the natural sugar in some of these fruits, my snack board was free of processed carbs!
I really loved how the colors all popped on the large platter I had picked up earlier in the season.
I sliced some of the sausage into circles and some halved for those who wanted just a bite. Boy, did the al fresco Chicken Sausage in Sweet Italian flavor really complement the snacks! I added some mustard as well for dipping because mustard is the “ketchup of my family”. My kids love it on so much! You could do marinara, honey mustard, etc.
With this snack board, there is truly no-guilt! You could even make it full keto-friendly by removing the grapes, apricots, kiwi, and tangerines. You could sub them with additional nuts, boiled eggs, and cheeses.
We have used al fresco Chicken Sausage in this keto-friendly Chicken Sausage Salad–it is so popular!
