It is time to get spooky this October and celebrate the season of ghosts and ghouls. While things may look different this year, we are sharing Ways to Celebrate Halloween at Home. This post is sponsored by Dollar General.
Check out some of the fun stuff you can find in-store at your local Dollar General. They have everything from costumes (starting at just $1) to candy, home décor, and even party goods. You can find everything in-store and online starting at just $1!
We recently made a trip to our local Dollar General where we picked up some fun Halloween items for our family. I love how spent about $75 dollar but got so much stuff! Many items were just a buck which is right up my alley!
With the current state of things, I am not sure if our kids will be able to trick or treat. I hope they can, but we are preparing for the worst case scenario which is celebrating Halloween at home.
Of course, our kids will be disappointed if they cannot trick or treat, but we are preparing to make the situation as fun as possible. Today, I want to share some fun ways to celebrate Halloween indoors with your family in the event that trick or treating cannot happen.
Celebrating Halloween at home
There are many ways you can make the best of a Halloween night indoors. Here are some of our ideas that we will be partaking in, in the event that our kids cannot trick or treat outdoors.
Halloween cupcake decorating party
Head to Dollar General to pick up cake mix, frosting, and small Halloween candies like Sixlets to decorate your cupcakes. Bake up a batch of cupcakes and allow kids to frost, and decorate them with spooky toppings.
Make things even a blast by allowing kids to be in costume as they party and enjoying the baking and decorating festivities.
Halloween movie night
Head to Dollar General to pick up a classic family movie like Jumanji or a Netflix gift card for your family to enjoy some spooky or funny family flicks. Add some popcorn, candy, or chips and dip to your cart for some tasty treats.
Halloween game night
Dollar General also has classic games like UNO, Battleship, and Monopoly. Wage candy as prizes for the winners to enjoy all while having fun in costume.
Halloween crafting
Dollar General has plenty of crafts to keep your little goblins entertained this Halloween season. Craft kits start at just $1 to make ghoulish creativity budget-friendly.
Halloween goodie bags
What kid doesn’t love a goodie bag? Dollar General has many small toys and candies that would fit perfectly into treat bags. In fact, they even have the treat bags. These are perfect for a Halloween party at home with a few other friends.
We love these Halloween squishies and bright orange slime!
Halloween face painting fun
Just because your kids might not be able to trick or treat traditionally, doesn’t mean they cannot get dressed and enjoy face painting. Pick up some inexpensive makeup kits from your local Dollar General and allow the kids to go to town creating fun looks. Just be sure to pick up some makeup remover wipes too!
Candy Scavenger hunt
Hide Halloween treats around the home and have kids use clues to find them. Additionally, you could hide the treat “Easter Egg style” where kids have to hunt around for their treats. Dollar General has a ton of candy at amazing prices from brands like Reese’s, Hershey’s, and Sixlets to name a few!
Pumpkin decorating
Wanting to carve pumpkins? Dollar General has pumpkin caving tools and craft kits to take your pumpkin from plain to creepy. Set out mini paints, pumpkin craft kits, and carving tools for kids to spark their creativity with.
Halloween hide and seek
If you have a big backyard, or safe outdoor space why not have fun with a game or two of Halloween hide and seek? Have kids dress in their costumes and hide in the dark. Lighted wrist bands (available at Dollar General) can keep kids visible.
Halloween pizza night
Dollar General has everything you need for a pizza night in. Head to their freezer section to pick up your family’s favorite pizza. With many brands to choose from, there is sure to be something for everyone. Add black olive spiders to the pizza for a spooky effect.
