Green bean casserole just got a makeover with this tasty spin on a classic! This Chorizo Green Bean casserole is loaded with delicious flavors and is perfect for Thanksgiving!
Now that the chilly fall weather has arrived, my oven has been in overdrive. I am not to the point of needing to turn the heat on but it is getting there.
At least for now I can warm my space up a bit by doing my favorite thing which happens to be cooking for my family. This time of year is all about baking, and cooking hearty meals like Chorizo Green Bean Casserole.
Ok, so many of you might not be familiar with chorizo, but it is a Spanish sausage that boast lots of flavor. When I was younger my mom would make a green bean soup using it as the main protein and my family always loved it. I figured why not dress up traditional green bean casserole with some Latin flair.
Making Chorizo Green Bean Casserole is perfect for the holidays too! I know many of you all may prepare the traditional version for you Thanksgiving day spread, but by adding a meat like chorizo you can turn this side dish staple into a complete meal!
It would go amazing with turkey, stuffing, and all the fixings, plus it is not hard to prepare! You can purchase most fo the ingredients at Walmart too which is super convenient.

Drain the liquid from the green beans.
Pour all ingredients with the exception of one 2/3 cup of French’s® Crispy Fried Onions (save for topping) into the casserole dish, and stir.
Bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees.
Remove, and top with remaining French’s® Crispy Fried Onions and bake for 5 minutes.
We love to serve this green bean casserole “twist” as a meal or with mashed potatoes. It is very filling and hearty for the soul! Plus it really doesn’t involve much effort for such an incredible meal!
We love eating this when it gets cooler out because it is super filling and can easily be reheated and topped with more fried onions!

Green bean casserole is the only way I eat green beans! Adding chorizo to it only makes it better.

Hubby really enjoys chorizo. I don’t believe he’s ever used it in a casserole as far as I know. He can’t have the mushroom, I’m wondering if subbing cream of celery would alter the intended taste much.

I love chorizo! I generally have it as is with cheese but it looks good in your casserole too!

This looks great, and it looks like something I can pull off. We have a designated green bean casserole maker for family gatherings — you know “Aunt so-n-so’s famous green bean casserole”, so I’ve never made one myself, but I think it’s about time I give it a shot!
