The holiday season seems to be flying by, and chances are you might be starting to panic a little? I know I am because my Christmas cards are not yet done, and I still have a ton of gifts to wrap and buy.
But, one thing that holds true is that I will be creatively gifting inexpensive gifts that are thoughtful. Showing someone how much you care like a teacher, co-worker, mail person, or hairdresser doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg. In fact, you can totally keep the price under $10–maybe even under $5 with the right mug/fillers.
Cheap Mug Gift Ideas
Last year, I shared some Inexpensive Ways to Gift Candy. That post is a hit right now, and is loaded with fun ideas to gift loved ones in a creative way that won’t break the bank.
Since that post was super successful, I wanted to create some additional cute homemade gift ideas featuring coffee mugs. Chances are whether your recipient loves coffee or tea, a new custom mug is always a fun option.
Especially when you stuff it with yummy candy, a gift card, or hot cocoa mix ins! Candy that is delicious, creative, and cute such as R.M. Palmer Christmas candy, makes for a fun way to jazz up your Christmas gifting on a budget.
What to Add to a Mug Gift
The beauty of putting together a homemade Christmas gift is that you can easily control the price. You could purchase a really nice mug for $6-$10 or you could purchase one for $1-$3. Places like the dollar store or even Target or Home Goods are a few of my favorites.
If you want to keep your gift under $5 you could purchase a $1-$3 mug, and some fillers like some Jolly Treats (3.6 ounces of chocolaty goodness). Add them to a mug with some filler for an inexpensive option.
I love the colors of these foil-wrapped balls and they can be found at the dollar store along with Sprinkle Bells (in a mesh bag), or even Double Crisp® Coal.
You could add a $5 coffee gift card, tea bags, coffee, an ornament or more to make your mug gift extra thoughtful! These additions can easily be done on a $10 per person budget.
Best Gift for Naughty Kids or Adults
Adding the Double Crisp® Coal to one of my favorite mugs–a Naughty mug is my favorite gift I have created. It is so cute and one that we can all relate to. There is always someone on our shopping list who is a little naughty. This gift cost me $$7.50 to make and feature a mug complete with coal–candy coal, of course!
Hot Cocoa Mug Gift
My second favorite in expensive mug gift is this Hot Cocoa Mug Gift set. It features a larger mug, a bag of Jolly Treats, hot cocoa mix, sprinkles, and hot cocoa stirrers. This great gift was $10 to make and is perfect for teachers. I did have the smaller espresso ornament on-hand from last year, but you can substitute something of cheaper value.
Santa Mug Gift
You can’t go wrong with this Santa mug homemade gift idea. It only cost $7.50 to make and features Crisp Kringle® chocolaty goodness.
Overall, I am really happy with how these personalized mug gift ideas came out! They are ideal for switch a gifts, secret Santa exchanges and more! If you are needing an inexpensive gift, they are the way to go! Enjoy!
You can find R.M. Palmer Christmas candies at your local retailer. They are a fun way to make someone smile this holiday season!
