There is nothing more refreshing than an ice-cold, frozen treat in the sweltering summer heat. I know my kids beg me for ice pops but I am not always a fan of the dyes and ingredients. A few years ago, I started making my orange juice, and lemonade pops which tasted better than most store-bought varieties. The orange cream ones are my kid’s favorite, and boy, are they easy to make.
Making your frozen pops is easier than you might think. These Homemade Orange Cream Ice Pops are made with just 3 ingredients and take 5 minutes to mix and pour. The real patience part is allowing them to freeze for 6 hours. That is why I suggest having an ongoing alternate batch in the freezer at all times to be able to consistently enjoy these orange juice pops during the summertime.
Truthfully, these orange-cream ice pops are only as tasty as the orange juice used. We love the iconic Tropicana Pure Premium brand because it is yummy and has no added sugar. All of the sugar comes from the oranges themselves which is a mom win! This delicious OJ also has 100% of your daily vitamin C to help support a healthy immune system. As a teacher, I will opt for a treat like these as they can help support my immune system.
Homemade Orange Cream Ice Pops Ingredients
Orange Juice – We love Tropicana Pure Premium Orange Juice because it is pulp-free, and has a delicious flavor that lends itself nicely to these pops.
Yogurt – I used vanilla low-fat yogurt in these pops. You can use your preferred brand but it must be a sweetened vanilla flavor to truly highlight the flavors.
Sugar -While you can use granulated sugar, I prefer simple syrup to maintain the smooth, non-gritty consistency of these ice pops.
How to Make Orange Cream Ice Pops
Prepare your supplies and make sure you have a level space in your freezer to store your ice pops.
In a mixing bowl, add the orange juice, simple syrup, and half of the vanilla yogurt.
Whisk to combine.
Using a small funnel, add the orange juice mixture to each ice pop mold.
Place the sticks into the mold, cover them, and place them into the freezer.
Freeze for 6 hours or until completely frozen throughout.
Once ready to enjoy, carefully remove pops from the mold. If they are stuck, you can run the bottoms of the molds in hot water which should help them to pop out easily.
How to Store Homemade Ice Pops
These will go pretty quickly but will last for up to 30 days when stored properly. If your mold doesn’t have a cover, be sure to wrap them in plastic wrap. Enjoy!
Variations
You can pretty much use any favorite juice you have to make these. Tropicana makes a variety of juices, blends, and lemonades–they even have zero-sugar options. You will still need the sweetened yogurt and simple syrup as the recipe calls for. However, you could swap to a strawberry, or blueberry yogurt if desired.
