Inspiration For this Recipe
I have been on a Pumpkin kick lately – baking up delicious treats like Jumbo Pumpkin Muffins, Pumpkin Streusel Bundt Cake, and Pumpkin Oatmeal Cookies. Naturally, baking up some Pumpkin Donuts had to be next on the list!
This recipe uses real pumpkin pie filling and pumpkin spice, so it’s super moist and full of pumpkin flavor.
Making Baked Pumpkin Donuts
This recipe is really easy to make. All you have to do is:
- In a medium bowl, mix together the dry ingredients with a whisk to combine them.
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk the wet ingredients together.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and combine them together. Mix until completely combined.
- Add the batter to a donut pan.
- Bake until done.
You can sprinkle powdered sugar on them after they come out of the oven or you can enjoy them plain. In my opinion, they make a better snack or dessert without anything extra. The pumpkin flavor really holds its own.
But, since Halloween is right around the corner, I decided to frost mine with a simple hack.
Frosted Donut Hack
To quickly and effortlessly frost your donuts, simply scoop out 1 cup of canned vanilla frosting. Add it to a microwave-safe bowl, and microwave for 15 seconds. Once creamy, give it a good mix with a fork.
Then, dip each donut surface in it, lift up, swirl, and twist to remove excess.
Add small candy decorations or sprinkles an enjoy once the frosting hardens up a bit in about 30 minutes time.
