If you’re looking for that special weekend, party, or game day appetizer, you have come to the right place. These Buffalo Chicken Crescent Dough Bites are exactly what you need to at least try once for a tasty & yummy meal, snack, or appetizer.
What do They Taste Like?
Heavenly to be simply put. The flavors in these go together so perfectly! Plus, you can use frozen chicken from brands like Tyson to make them quicker!
These Buffalo Chicken Crescent Dough Bites are handheld puffy pockets that are loaded with flavor. They bake up perfectly in a standard muffin tin and are similar to a homemade calzone using crescent dough. I love the shape and size because it is perfect for portion control. You can make just 8, or easily double or triple the recipe to accommodate your family size.
Similar to our Sausage, Egg, and Cheese Bites, or our Ham, Egg, and Cheese Bites, these taste best warm, and on the first day. They can be frozen, but doesn’t everything taste better when fresh out of the oven?
Making these Bites
Making these is super easy, but will take a small time sacrifice to bake the chicken prior. I assure you though, they are worth every cheesy, mildly spicy bite! Check out what you will need to recreate these buffalo chicken appetizers below!
Ingredients
- Extra large crescent dough tubes
- Frozen buffalo chicken bites (Tyson Any’Tizers Snacks work well)
- Cheddar cheese
- Ranch
- Celery bits
- Butter
- Italian herbs
Assembly
- Bake your chicken according to the package instructions. Mine was about 20 minutes. Once chicken is done, set aside.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Grease your muffin tin.
- Add your crescent dough to 8 muffin tin slots. You will spread out each triangle as pictured.
- Add ranch dressing to each piece of dough followed by 1/2 a tablespoon of celery.
- Add an even amount of cheddar cheese to each.
- Finish each with a piece of prebaked chicken.
- Wrap up corners of the crescent to form a ball. They do not have to be fully covered. The muffin tin will help them keep their shape as they bake up.
- Brush with melted herb butter.
- Bake for 12-15 mins or until golden brown.
- Serve warm.
As you can see, making these is easy as pie–maybe even a little easier! haha!
Substitutions
As with most recipes, there is some wiggle room for this recipe that will still produce pleasing results.
Chicken- You can use any brand of baked, fully cooked frozen buffalo chicken. Additionally, you can use plain frozen chicken and add your own buffalo sauce. Simply bake the chicken, and coat in the sauce.
If you prefer to use fresh chicken, cook chicken tenders in bite-sized pieces, and toss with buffalo sauce. Additionally, you can use leftover chicken liked rotisserie chicken. They key is to pretty much cook and toss with wing or buffalo sauce.
Cheese– You can use small cubes of cheddar, slices cut into quarters, shredded cheddar, or mozzarella.
Celery- You can leave this out, but we love the crunch it provides for the “full effect”.
Dressing- We used ranch because our kids do not like blue cheese, but I do believe blue cheese dressing or small chunks could be beneficial–the choice is yours.
Crescent dough- I prefer the Pillsbury Extra Large Crescent Rolls, but you can use standard size–they will just be smaller in size.
Storing
These Buffalo Chicken Crescent Dough Bites taste best when warm and fresh. However, you can freeze them after they have fully cooled.
Simply bake and allow them to fully cool before adding them to an airtight, freezer-safe bag. To reheat, allow them to thaw and bake them in the oven at 350 degrees for 3-5 minutes to heat up.
If not frozen the same day, these bites are best served warm, and do not taste as good refrigerated, and heated. They will become rather soggy.
