These days, there is no doubt that we are all trying to find ways to save a buck or two. Sometimes cutting corners, or becoming more savvy around the house is easier than you know. I bet many of you had no idea that a product like Palmolive Dish Soap could be so versatile, and have more than 25 ways to use! Yes, that is right, thanks to Palmolive, there are so many uses for dish soap that even include dog washing!
You may have heard the Palmolive slogan, tough on grease, soft on hands, but let it be known that it also makes for a shiny coat on dogs! That’s right, we recently discovered that Palmolive Ultra makes a great dog shampoo! Rather than spend a ton on pricy dog shampoos, we can now get a years worth of dog washes out of one bottle of good old Palmolive Ultra (found at stores like Walmart)!
If your dog has extremely sensitive skin, or allergies I probably would advise using anything but a specially made dog shampoo, however if he/she does not then Palmolive works great! We currently bathe our dog once every 3 weeks with Palmolive, and I have to say her coat looks especially shiny and healthy. The coolest part is, Palmolive also kills fleas too!!!
Currently, to get the best results, I make sure my dog is completely wet, and rinsed with warm water before adding a couple of good drizzles of soap.
I then lather her up and scrub her coat, under her neck, paws, and belly. Palmolive does not make a ton of suds on her, and helps to get all the gunk, and dirt out of her fur without during her skin out. Of course, every dog is different, but for us Palmolive Ultra makes a great dog shampoo!
Such a cute dog. And he handled the bath really well. Didn’t think about all the uses for Palmolive. I think I have a coupon for it.
Don’t all dogs love baths? Every dog I have ever had loved them.
I am so going to try that! I pay a small fortune for dog shampoo, so this will help us save a bundle.
Who knew?! I sure didn’t. We don’t have a dog but our cat likes to have baths, believe it, or not.
i’ve never, not once, attempted to bathe a cat.
i’m pretty sure i won’t ever try.
i like my blood inside my body LOL
I had no idea that you could use Palmolive as dog shampoo. Learn something new every day!
I never would have thought to use Palmolive as a pet shampoo! How inventive!
Hm who knew that you can use dish washing soap to wash your dog? We use palmolive so neat to see this post!
I had no clue you could use this to shampoo dogs! Wow — this sure would save a ton vs. dog shampoo. Oof, it’s so expensive, and it doesn’t last long!
Dog shampoo is wicked expensive, so I am totally doing this.
I use Palmolive on my pups all the time! I don’t think a lot of people realize that you don’t have to buy the pricey dog shampoos because this works just as well if not even better.
Awww, he is super cute. Looks scared but, clean. I can’t help but, love that little face.
What a great way to find out that Palmolive makes a fantastic dog shampoo and kills fleas! The pictures are perfect and the dog looks so happy to be clean, bundled up, and loved.
That is a great idea! You save so much money since you don’t have to go out and by a special soap.
I love how Palmolive Ultra is gentle enough to use on pets! It beats buying those expensive dog shampoos for sure!
Oh wow! I had no idea and this sure makes it easier to bathe the dogs. We have 3 and I didn’t even think to use something we already have in our house to clean them!
I had no idea!! Our dog is always getting filthy dirty and we use expensive stuff but I never think she smells/looks/feels really CLEAN! I’m going to try this! Your dog is so adorable!
I wouldn’t have known it was pet safe, looks like a great way to use the soap! Such a cute lil doggy!
We use Palmolive as a shampoo for one of our dogs. It really does make his coat shiny, and I love that it kills fleas.
Never would have thought to use Palmolive on a pet, but it makes perfect sense! Will need to pass this on to my mom and her two dogs. – Katy
I never would have thought to use that on our fur baby! What a great option!
We love using Palmolive. I never thought of using it for pet shampoo. Good idea.
Thanks For This I Just Got A Puppy Will Try & Save A Bunch Of Money This Is AWESOME!!
We have recently adopted our Husky Bella from a local shelter, so this is great info for me! I love something that works and saves money! I will definitely be entering the sweepstakes! Thank you!
We used to use dish soap to wash our family dog, it’s gentle and smells nice.
We used to use Palmolive as a dog shampoo, too. Our vet actually recommended it!
wow ladies never knew. I guess I will be buying that after I run out of all the dog shampoo I have.
I didn’t know you could use Palmolive as a dog shampoo. That would save tons of money!
How have I never thought of this… I was searching through the house the other day for dog shampoo when I could have just gone to my sink… ugh…
I never thought about using dish soap! We have two large pups who could certainly use a bath!
Now that we have a puppy I will be keeping this in mind. THANKS!
When I don’t have time to take my furry guys to the groomer, this is exactly what we use to bathe them!
Palmolive is a great soap for washing the varmints. Just make sure you rinse thoroughly. Soap that’s left on the skin can be irritating. We use dish soap all the time at the vet where I work to remove debris and oils.
I’ve used Palmolive to wash my dogs before. It’s great for getting out nasty stuff like mud, grease, and other grimy stuff.
I would have never thought to was a dog with Palmolive. I always thought you had to use special pet shampoo.
I had no idea you could wash your pets in Palmolive. That’s good to know. Pet shampoo is expensive.
I would have never thought of this. What a great tip to try!
Oh my goodness! What a baby ham she is! Too cute! I will definitely keep this in mind. I didn’t know you could use palmolive! That’s awesome! :)
One of my coworkers told me that Palmolive makes a great flea bath. Until then, I had never heard of using it. Such an affordable option!
What a cute pup! I’ve never thought about using Palmolive as a flea bath. I’ll have to try this on our dog!
I am going to have to give this a try. We just adopted a puppy.
Interesting. I’ve had two dogs with sensitive skin and I know I’d only use dog shampoo on them. In other cases, though, I’d definitely consider this!
i’m dying laughing at the first pic. your dog’s all “what are you doing with THAT bottle of stuff, and why am i in this tub”!!
my 9 year old helpfully bathed our dog last week. with my Redken salon shampoo. I wanted to cry!
What a cute dog! I never thought to use Palmolive when I get my dog a bath! Thanks!
I had no idea it could kill fleas, that is great to know!
What is it in dish detergent that kills fleas? Ivory kills fleas as well. I am going to have to figure this out. I’m glad to know that palmolive has the same ability, because the fleas in the grass this year are ridiculous. Great information!
That’s an inexpensive dog shampoo too! What a great idea!
Awww, what a cute pup! I did not know Palmolive killed fleas. Great tips!
I had no idea that you could use Palmolive for dogs. Your dog does look a little scared in that first picture. LOL.
That is way more affordable than most dog shampoos too! My dog totally doesn’t fit in the tub anymore though lol!
Just take him outside and use the hose. It’s summer, so he’ll get clean and be refreshed by the cool water. Win, win!
The majority of hoses contain toxic materials. If you care about your companion animal, hoses should not be used for bathing or for water consumption – whether human or animal. Also it makes for an unpleasant bath. Even if it is a hot day out, I am sure that you would not appreciate an only cold water shower.
Yup – I’ve used palmolive to clean cats, gerbils, hamsters, guinea pigs – and once, in a pinch at the cottage, even my daughter! LOL
I had no idea that you could use Palmolive to clean an animal. That is such a more cost effective way to give them a bath. Thanks for sharing!
What a smart idea! I’ll have to suggest this to my brother.
Well, I never would have thought to use dish soap as a dog shampoo. That’s great to know in case I ever run out of their doggie shampoo and need something in a hurry!
I never thought about trying this! Thanks for the idea!
I never would have thought to use Palmolive to wash my sweet dog. I guess I need to look into it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Wow! My sister has 2 dogs I’ll have to let her know. I have a bottle of Palmolive in my kitchen right now!
I had no idea that was pet safe! We have it in the house along with a dog who needs a bath. Perfect timing!
We have always used dish soap to wash our dogs. Makes their coats look nice and it’s cheap!
I never thought about using Palmolive as a dog shampoo. I’m going to try it.
I will have to try this with my hot doggie Rufus. I out a bit of vinegar in it too
I never thought of using for dog shampoo! Your dog definitely looks nice and clean!
I have used Palmolive for years for dishes and as a dog shampoo. It really does kill fleas and leaves your dogs coat shiny and soft.
I love Palmolive, especially the pink one! I never thought about using it to wash the dog. Thanks for sharing.
I never would have thought of using dish soap as a dog shampoo. But it makes perfect sense!
My only concern is that some dish soaps have drying agents that dry out a dogs skin and the necessary oils for their coats. I know quite a few use blue Dawn. I also know people who use Suave people shampoo.
We have this in our home and I never would have thought to use it on my dog! Such a smart idea.
Great idea! i love that this is safe on pets.
It’s not drying? I know it would clean! If it’s not drying I would do it in a heartbeat! What a great tip to save money and get the doggie clean as a whistle. :)
The puppy is adorable. I did not know you could do this.
we use baby shampoo for that reason too. IT kills fleas and cleans the dog well. When I run out I’ll just use palmolive.
Oh wow! I just worry that the ingredients can be too harsh. I mean we always use Palmolive but they are still quite hard to get off sometimes and what about the dog’s eyes? Just wondering if it could hurt them.
It really is amazing how versatile dish soap can be, isn’t it. I’m going to pass this along to a few dog loving friends!
Your puppy is the sweetest! We don’t have a dog, but I’m going to pass this tip along to our friends that do! #client
This post was so funny to me. I have used dish liquid for laundry, bubble bath and shampoo as well as dishe.s. I guess for me it is a multipurpose tool.
Can i use any liquid dish soap as dog shampoo?coz Palmolive dish soap is nt available in the Phils.i think.
I would not! This is made gentle.
