20 Minute Apple Pie Turnovers

Working with pasty dough is not my specialty. Like at all. In fact, I have been known to easily get my hands wrapped up in dough and create horrific, horrible masses of dough that could likely break something if propelled. That is why I stick with quality crescent roll dough as a base to many of my pastries such as these pumpkin cinnamon rolls. If I dared to make my own pastry dough from scratch, I could almost imagine my yeast rising up so much that it took over the counters, and kitchen like a giant blob.
Sad, but true.
That is why I am a firm believer in using crescent roll dough to make pastries, and savory meals like pigs in the blanket or ham and cheese crescents. Honestly, using a QUALITY can save you TONS of time in the kitchen and you never have to worry about mixing flours, waiting for yeast to rise, and all that baking headachy stuff.
Of course, when I am in the kitchen baking or cooking I like to multitask to save time and effort. These 20 Minute Apple Pie Turnovers are all about multitasking and timing things right. With a cook time of about 15 minutes, these apple pie turnovers are my kind of fall pastry. The drizzle of slightly crusty glaze takes them from good to hard to resist with just a little more effort as the pies bake.
- 1 large granny smith apple diced very small
- 1 package of crescent rolls
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
- 1 tsp Corn Starch
- parchment lined baking sheet, small stock pot, wooden spoon, knife
Pre-heat your oven to 375, and prepare your baking sheet with your 8 crescent rolls spread into triangles
Add you apples, butter, and spices to your stock put and stir for about 3 minutes over medium-high heat. Add in your cornstarch to thicken up the filling and stir well. Once, it gets thick and caramel-like remove from heat.
Add a little filling to each center of these rolls, and then fold, and tuck them
Bake for 15 minutes
Place them on a serving dish and garnish with glaze
- 2 cups of Powdered Sugar
- 1 tablespoon of Milk (a tiny bit more if you find it too thick)
