Best Air Fryer Chicken Batter
We love using Butcher Box Chicken Wings which contain the flats and drummettes of chicken wings. They cook up perfectly and are fresh and properly cleaned. Find the best dry batter for wings that tastes yummy.
- All-purpose flour: This pantry staple gives the wings their coating.

- Paprika: A sprinkle of sweet paprika gives the wings a lovely golden hue and a hint of smoky flavor.
- Onion powder: Adds depth and a touch of sweetness.
- Cumin: This warm spice brings a bit of exotic flair, making the wings taste extra special.

- Olive Oil cooking spray: A light mist of olive oil helps the spices stick and creates that irresistible crispy skin in the air fryer.
Air Fryer Chicken Wings with the Better Breader XL
- Pour the dry batter mix into the bottom of the Better Breader XL. No need for extra bowls, it’s that simple!
- Pat your wings dry with paper towels. Then, pop them into the Better Breader XL tray and shake, shake, shake! All the wings get evenly coated in delicious spices with no mess on your hands.
- Preheat your air fryer: Follow your air fryer’s instructions for preheating, usually around 400°F (200°C).
- Arrange your wings in a single layer to ensure even air circulation and maximum crispness. Overcrowding leads to soggy wings, and nobody wants that!
- Depending on your air fryer’s size, you may need to cook in batches. Aim for around 10-12 minutes per side for smaller wings and 14-16 minutes for larger ones.
- Halfway through cooking, flip your wings to ensure even browning and crispness on both sides. Note that you might need to remove the tray to spray the other side of the wings.
- The wings are done when they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). You can use a meat thermometer to check, but usually golden-brown crispy skin is a good indicator.
- Transfer the cooked wings to a plate and let them rest for a couple of minutes before tossing them in the buttery garlic parmesan sauce.
