Chewy raisins and dry roasted peanuts are enveloped in milk chocolate. This holiday or special occasion candy treat comes together in just ten minutes! The taste is reminiscent of the iconic Chunky Candy Bar. Post contains affiliate links.
Anyone who’s ever been to a candy store and looked inside the traditional glass candy display cases has seen chocolate clusters before. They’re usually made up of different combinations, such as nut and fruit, but this recipe is for a cluster that combines two ingredients: milk chocolate and raisins. The chewy and crunchy texture will have you craving more after just one bite!
Why I Love these Traditional Chocolates
These Raisin and Peanut Clusters are such a simple confection to whip up. You really do not need much skill in the kitchen to create these sweet and chewy treats. I love that they take about 10 minutes to make (no fancy equipment needed) and another 30 minutes to set. These make such a sweet thank you gift to friends and family and can be made on the cheaper side depending on where you source your ingredients. They are a great candy board complement to my Homemade Turtle Candy.
How to Make Raisin & Peanut Cluster Candy
Measure out your ingredients. You will need 2 cups of raisins, 2 cups of salted, dry roasted peanuts and 16 ounces of milk chocolate melts.
Place the chocolate morsels in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds and then stir. The chocolate will barely be melted.
Put the bowl back into the microwave and microwave for another 30 seconds. This time, the chocolate will be melted on the bottom and the bowl will be warm. Use a spoon to stir and place the chocolate back into the microwave.
Microwave for 15 seconds and then stir until all chocolate is creamy. You should only need one additional 10-15 second blast. You do not want to go any longer because that will burn the chocolate.
Once creamy, pour your raisins and peanuts into the melted chocolate and stir.
Use a medium Pampered Chef Scooper (affiliate link) or 2 tablespoon size cookie scooper to form clusters.
Place clusters on a parchment-lined baking sheet and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Variations
Like every good sweet treat, this recipe has some substitutions.
- Chocolate – Use white, milk, or dark chocolate.
- Fruit – Dried cherries, cranberries, or fruit cake mix would be delicious.
- Nuts – You can use unsalted peanuts, walnuts, pecans, cashews, mixed nuts, or macadamia nuts. Pretty much any dry roasted nut would be delicious.
How Long Do these Peanut Clusters Last?
These peanut clusters are a wonderful treat to make ahead of time for the holiday season. They last up to 3 weeks when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. I find keeping them in the refrigerator (in an airtight container) is the best storage method although they can stay out at room temperature as long as it is not hot or humid.
Additionally, you can freeze these in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months for best taste and texture.
